First Grade Is Set For Science!
Funded Dec 15, 2009I am so very grateful to Mr. Olvera and the Burroughs Wellcome Fund for your donations to our class. We have all of our kits ready to begin planting. As soon as the ants arrive, we are going to have our ant farm operational! My children are so excited to see the ants and how they will begin tunneling. We have looked ants up on the computer and had class discussions, predicting how our ants will begin living in their farm.
We have to wait till spring for our butterfly and are studying the parts of a butterfly and how they migrate. I am explaining how we all do things at certain times. The life cycle applies to us as well as insects and plants!
Thank you so much for all of our science resources. Science has become a time my class looks forward to each day. We could not have had these resources if it wasn't for your generous donations to our classroom. My students thank you!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. DAlessandro
This classroom project was brought to life by Burroughs Wellcome Fund and one other donor.Math & Science Go Hands On!
Funded Dec 10, 2009I cannot thank you enough for donating to our classroom project. My students have been using the Science puzzles and really enjoying the process! So many of my students had never put together a puzzle! Just learning this has been quite an accomplishment for them. We have had fun discussing the concepts of Science objectives with each puzzle and they do not realize they are learning while having fun.
The number stamps are being used in our centers for Math. Many students are already showing improvement in their number writing skills! The stamps are great and they are making math word problems with them.
Thank you so much for what you have done for my students. There was not any way I could have purchased such nice resources for them to use.
It is people like you who are making a difference in our classrooms. Thank you!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. DAlessandro
Math Packed With Fun Facts!
Funded Dec 31, 2009Thank you so much for donating these Math resources to our classroom. My students are adding, subtracting, and working word problems and having a great time. I give them pencil and paper so they can write down what they have done. When I check these papers later in the day I am always so happy that they are actually getting the concepts that we went over in whole group.
The kits are so colorful and the little counters engage students immediately. I never would have been able to have this type of resource for my students without your help. Thank you so much for your generous donations. I wish I could record my students as they are working on the different resources. They are happy and learning! I couldn't ask for more. Thank you!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. DAlessandro
We Can't Get Enough Of The Five Strands Of Mathematics!
Funded Dec 23, 2009I cannot thank you enough for your generous donation to our classroom. My students were so happy with the Math Centers. Not only were they happy with the centers, they were amazed that people they did not know donated these resources.
Our school system is currently facing budget cuts and we needed these materials! The centers are colorful and fun for the students to work with. Students do not realize they are learning at the same time they are working with the centers. When I have students write down what they learned from each center, I find they actually understand and comprehend many of the skills that are necessary for first grade.
Thank you so much for your donation! We could not have had these materials if it were not for donors like you. My students are very grateful and I am so thankful! ”
With gratitude,
Mrs. DAlessandro
Time for Kids Means Time for Learning!
Funded Aug 20, 2009This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. Time For Kids has already meant so much to my students. These are treasured magazines in our room, and the best part is that each child has one to keep and share at home!
Time for Kids will make a huge impact on our first grade students as they are experiencing even fewer resources than before. The colorful and well written magazine fits in with our curriculum and gives students another perspective of objectives that we are teaching now. Thank you for taking the time to give my students this gift!
Without donors like you, so many classrooms would be doing without! Thank you!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. DAlessandro
