  • Organizing and Filling Our Bellies Through Learning!

    Funded Jan 7, 2025

I want to thank you so very much for donating to our first grade classroom. Our title 1 school in North Port has seen devastation over the last few years, from hurricanes to Covid, and we absolutely love when the community reaches out and does some good for our school.

Many of our students come from low income families and struggle to provide the basic needs for their children, including snacks to keep their brain energized and bodies healthy. The snacks that were provided in our donation were gobbled up and enjoyed thoroughly.

As for the rest of the donation, we were given a beautiful yellow chair for students to sit in and share their weekly writing with the class in the part of the week we call "Author's Chair!" Students work hard to plan out a story, draft it, revise and edit to make it even better, then write neatly in their writing journals and include a beautiful illustration to match their written piece. Students love to sit in the chair and present - it's one of their favorite parts of the week, and mine too!

We also were given sturdy, white baskets to help house our many books in our first grade classroom. These have helped to keep our books organized by subject as well as authors and we also used some for housing some of our classroom snacks. We love when we have multiple uses for items and materials that are donated to our classroom.

Words cannot express how much we appreciated your thoughtful donation to our classroom and we are happy that some of these items will be used for future classes too!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pace

  • Post Hurricane Ian Christmas for Minions!

    Funded Dec 14, 2022

Your generosity in a chaotic time within our community is so much appreciated. Many of our students were presented with overwhelming circumstances after Hurricane Ian, an almost Category 5 hurricane, ripped through our community at the end of September. Many families found themselves homeless, forced to throw all of their belongings out into a pile at the end of the driveway, due to the hurricane either flooding water into their homes or by having their roofs ripped off in the over 9 hours of being within the west wall of the storm. Your generosity was given at a time when it was most needed, and for that I am thankful to you for providing our students with the simplest form of a smile and hope that things will be better in the years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pace

  • Snacks for Students After Hurricane Ian

    Funded Oct 17, 2022

The snacks that you helped purchase for our Kindergarten students were enjoyed! You helped to feed students that may have not had breakfast prior to coming into the classroom, and who were too late to receive the school breakfast in time. From the bottom of our hungry hearts, thank you!

Our student population is made up of many students who have lost their homes from Hurricane Ian impacting their own homes. I know, because my home was also flooded and we were homeless for over six months. Some of my students had to drive over 2 hours one way in order to get to school, attend school, and then drive another 2 hours home. These snacks that were provided were sent home with some of those students that knew they'd be hungry before they reached their temporary housing. It means so much more than you could ever imagine.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pace

  • Comfy-Cozy Carpet!

    Funded Aug 4, 2022

Your donations mean the world to us! Our comfy-cozy carpet came just in time for hurricane Ian to destroy seven classrooms in our kindergarten and pre-k hallway. Luckily, I rolled it up and put it high because I was not going to let it get ruined! When we returned to school post Hurricane, the first thing the students asked about was if the rug got wet! It means so much to them and has already helped to ease them back in after our community lost so much! Your donations make such an impact on the lives of so many children and we can't thank you enough for all of your support!”

    With gratitude,

  • TIME for Kindergarten!

    Funded Jun 20, 2022

I want to thank you so very much for donating towards my TIME for Kindergarten project. I am so excited to get these materials in the hands of my Kindergarten kiddos and expose them to the wonderful world of curiosity as TIME digs deep into these amazing articles on science, social studies, reading, etc.

Reading in Kindergarten is so important as we build the foundation and a love for reading. Students need materials such as TIME for Kids in their hands to be exposed to photographs and rich text. Having their own articles that they can read in the classroom and take home to share with their families is even better. The joy that they give in explaining what they learned in the classroom that day is so wonderful to witness.

    Thank you again,

    Mrs. Meritz Minions”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pace
