A Refrigerator to Teach Independence and Lifeskills.

Funded Jan 15, 2023

The day our refrigerator arrived we were very excited. We couldn't believe that thanks to your kind donations, we finally had a wonderful full-size Stainless-Steel LG refrigerator that we desperately needed.

We immediately assigned jobs for our students. Two students put away extra breakfast and lunch items instead of throwing them away, and someone else cleans our refrigerator on Fridays and throws out expired food. This is a wonderful way to teach them independence and vocational skills they can use in the real-world.

Our first project was following a visual recipe to make individual cups of fruit jello for our Open House. Students enjoyed following the recipe and eating the jello the next day.

Our favorite part is being able to store snacks and food for celebrations. We are now able to celebrate students' birthdays with cupcakes and ice cream without the fear of ants getting into the cupcakes or the ice cream melting before we serve them.

Thank you again for supporting our project with your generous donations!”

With gratitude,

Ms. Gonzalez
