Help my moderate to severe special education kids learn to read the way they learn, visual, simple, and musical. I have students with various special needs on spectrum, some who function a little higher than the others and some who are still at pre-school level. Academically, some can read, some can recognize alphabets, and some don't even know their alphabets, but I have faith that they all can learn to read at a functional level to get through life. That is my goal.
They all love music and technology. I have a projector in class, but the screen is horrible. I project it on a whiteboard, and it cuts out the view. My students need a big screen. Our curriculum itself is online and adding proper screening will help students. Phonics awareness is needed by most students. These students with disabilities learn through music and visuals. Phonics cards with CDs will help them visualize and recall through seeing and listening. This will help them learn to read signs in the environment. Help them learn to read and learn to be safe!
