Capture Our Pre-K Learning!
Funded Mar 27, 2018Since receiving the digital camera, my students can't stop taking pictures and videos of one another within center time, outdoor play and neighborhood trips. The technology provides them with rich vocabulary that connects with their learning and experiences which fosters creativity.
My Pre-k students have learned how to zoom in on objects and insects in order to look at specific details and features. The students get excited when they see themselves in video projected on the screen.
This new technology has been well received by some of my students who are very shy to speak and engage with peers. It allows them to connect with their classmates without feeling peer pressure or embarrassment.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Harper
This classroom project was brought to life by Verizon and 4 other donors."We are Learning our Letter Names and Sounds. "
Funded Mar 25, 2018Our per-K students love to move, especially when you combine that with learning. Our new rug allows them to perform and learn new skills every day by interacting with the rug and each other. My students are learning to count numbers in sequential order, and identifying their letters uppercase and lowercase, while drilling the letter sounds. Colors are a big deal for per-kindergartners. Matching, identifying and classifying colors is a prerequisite skill needed in life.
When you walk into our classroom, you'll see students engaged in meaningful activity. They are collaborating with each other, reasoning, sharing learning from each other and becoming lifelong friends.
No two students are the same, they all have different learning styles, but one thing they do have in common is the love of learning through play! This is where the authenticity of their personality shines.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Harper
