  • Toys and Games Equals Educational Fun!

    Funded Aug 15, 2024

Teachers are very lucky to have a platform like Donors Choose and awesome donors like you to fulfill our students educational needs and goals.

When I walked into the classroom that morning with my class we were greeted with boxes of all sizes. My students couldn't contain themselves. "Wow!! Mrs. Harper Teacher did you buy all these boxes and toys." The first thing my students worked with were the magnet tiles, snap cubes and connecting links to made relatable. 3-D shapes which reflected what students are currently learning in addition to identifying the colors. Our current unit is all about trees and we are having a wonderful time using the feathers, pipe cleaners, popsicle, sticks, Play-Doh, and color clay to create animals that live in trees. I can't express how thankful we are to have received the educational items to continue learning through fun. A Heartful thank you very much.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Harper

  • Pre-K Wants to Be Ready to create.

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

Everyday my students asked "When are we getting the new fun stuff ". Then, a few days later they walked into our classroom and the boxes were stacked on the counter. The students were so excited they stood around the boxes as I unpacked the colored craft paper, paint sticks, glitter, stickers and primary paint colors. Their first project was creating a family tree using the new craft supplies to complete the brown paper tree trunk and branches. Green paint sticks to make the leaves. Then green glitter, which makes everything look better. My students were very happy and proud of what they created. They are now working on the next project...A quilt of Giving thanks. Pre-K would not have the necessary, wonderful creative tools without your generous support.”

  • We’Re Back at School and Need Center Activities!

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

The last two years have been nothing short of stress, and difficult challenges. But, we knew better days were coming with in-person classrooms and bright smiles on our students faces. Their smiles are also because of you! Our gracious donors. As I opened the box, One of my students said..."is that for us?" My reply was..."absolutely!" We all sat on the rug and marveled over the much needed center activities. A few said..."Now we can have fun while spelling sight words and playing addition math games."

The materials arrived right on time as we started learning about blends, and digraphs during Fundations. My students and I can't thank you enough.”

  • Please Help Us Continue to “Learn-at-Home”

    Funded Apr 7, 2021

My students are absolutely thrilled to receive their learn at home supplies, and activities. Some of the projects my students worked on we're math problem solving strategies using ten frames, counters and manipulative. Students also had to create an object out of shapes using their attribute shapes and pattern blocks.

When the items were delivered, I told my virtual class that something very special just arrived for them. They were very curious as I opened it and took out the items, one by one. Cheers, ohhh, Awwww, yeah, filled the air. They jumped up and down with excitement. My students could not wait to complete their next project using the letter tiles.”

  • Tactile Supplies, Please!

    Funded Dec 17, 2020

It is such a relief to see my remote students pull out their tactile supplies and get right to work! They actually can't wait to login to our math class every day!

What I usually hear is..."Mrs. Harper, look, look, I filled my ten frame with counters." "That means there's Ten." Also..."I love using snap cubes to count, I can count how tall my cube tower is."

My students are now skip counting by tens using the base ten rods. Soon they will work on identifying three dimensional shapes from their tactile supply.

This was a very hard year for everyone and in many ways. I am extremely grateful to have awesome supportive donors who care about my wonderful students as much as I do.”

  • Distance Learning Manipulatives

    Funded May 14, 2020

My students were so excited to start using the remote learning manipulatives, and even more excited to show what they can do with them. My students use their basic skills ring cards daily within class and at home to reinforce math, reading, writing and phonics skills.

One of our recent projects, students used their translucent shapes to trace and create a disguise turkey for the upcoming holiday. It was wonderful to see how their imagination bloomed into unique projects. Also during our remote class, students come prepared with their basic skills ring as new skills are introduced.

Because of your caring, wonderful, contribution, all of my students are able to participate with tactile manipulatives every day. It is a connection that all learners need to become successful learners.”

  • Social Emotional Growth

    Funded Feb 5, 2020

When I received the Social Emotional supply activities, my Pre-k students were learning about cultural awareness and respecting other's feelings. The projects that were started, now became enhanced with cultural colors, beautiful beading and authentic creativity.

The students kept asking...can we use more paint, string, beads, play-do, and make a feast with the new dishes? Their excitement was infectious.

Although schools are currently closed due to Covid-19, our students are remote learning from home. Because of your sincere generosity, when we return our students will continue social emotional learning with a deeper understanding.”

  • We Need Storage!

    Funded May 14, 2019

When the storage cabinet arrived my students had just returned from Field Day with their class banner that they created. Instead of leaving it on top of a coat closet to get crushed, like in the past, their banner is now safely put away in the new storage cabinet.

My students were also very excited to store away their wonderful authentic work in our new storage cabinet. They said "Let's put everything in there "

My students look forward to creating more and more wonderful work using various supply materials, knowing they have a safe place to keep it.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Harper

My students need a large classroom rug that focus on the alphabet, letter recognition, as well as math. The rug will be placed in the front of the class where we do our rug activities, morning meetings, gross motor and music activities. Our students will also use the rug to explore their ability through counting, making letters and sounds, and then words! The students will interact with the rug during Learning Center times throughout the day as we read and write while learning together. They will be able to Interact with the rug during our whole group and small group time, learning letters and sounds as they make words, numbers, and sets as we explore counting skills. Your generous donation to our project will improve our Pre-K classroom by building a stronger reader and writer. This will change our students' lives for the better. They will love school and feel success at an early age --- having fun while learning!
