  • Financial Literacy to the Rescue!

    Funded Jan 22, 2025

Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity and compassion you have shown to me and my fourth grade students. You have no idea how truly grateful I am for people like you in our lives who care about the education of the New York City Students. Being able to teach them about financial literacy with new supplies of paper and scissors is priceless. The students were so excited to see all the delivery boxes being brought into our classroom. It helped that there were snacks inside those boxes too:)

    Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Burke

  • Snacks, Markers and Paper Oh My!

    Funded Jan 17, 2025

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity in helping to fund this amazing project of snacks and markers! My incredible students are so inquisitive and want to learn. Some of the students are often hungry and not able to focus on the learning at hand. Being able to supply them with snacks like fruit snacks, pretzels, trail mix and chips will help them to fill their bellies while allowing their minds to concentrate on their work. The markers and paper will allow my students to add color to all of their work. They will be able to add a cover page to their projects.”

  • Books, Books and More Books Please!

    Funded Jan 13, 2025

Words can not express how deeply grateful my class and I are for your amazing generosity and kindness in helping to fund our book project! My students love to read and unfortunately many of them do not have the financial resources available to their families to purchase books. School is sometimes the only place where they have access to books.

Being able to supply my students with brand new books is a feeling that I can not describe. Their eyes light up when they see a box of new books being opened for them to read. In particular, my class this year loves the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books and with your care and concern for their education, I will be able to provide these books to them.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Burke

  • Games to Teach How to Work Together & Have Fun.

    Funded Jan 13, 2025

There are no words to truly express how grateful my class and I am for your kindness, generosity and dedication to the education of students.

Over the years, as a teacher and a parent, I have noticed that kids play less and less board games because of phones and technology. I think that it is important for students to learn to work together and learn to follow directions and take turns. These type of games, like checkers, guess who, trouble, chutes and ladders and candy land, all take time and thought. Strategies and critical thinking skills need to be used. These skills will help the kids in school and in life.”

  • Document Camera to the Rescue!

    Funded Jan 13, 2025

You have no idea how incredibly thankful my class and I am for your generosity and kindness in supporting this project. We have so desperately needed a working document camera. The one we have was old and broken. This new one will allow us to see images from the table now projected on to the large screen. This will allow for all of the students to see exactly what is being taught in a larger view. We have wanted this for so long. You also helped to get us a case of white copy paper. All I can say is wow! We will now be able to use that paper for printing out projects that we created and designed in the computers.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Burke

  • Food For Fuel!

    Funded Dec 14, 2024

Words can not express how truly grateful my class and I are for your kindness and generosity. You have no idea how excited my students were when the boxes were delivered to the classroom. The smiles on their faces were priceless. Many of my students come from low income families and snacks are not always able to be purchased. Having a snack like goldfish, rice krispy treats and apple sauce, during the long morning hours will help the students to keep energized for their learning throughout the day!

    Thanks again for your help.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Burke

  • Technology to Enhance Learning

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

Let me begin with a huge THANK YOU! Words can not express how truly grateful my class and I am for your kindness and generosity. Your willingness to support education for students in lower income neighborhoods is truly a gift. We don't have all of the supplies or technology that other schools do and it is a disadvantage to my students. Now with your help in funding this project, my students will be able to create slides, projects and watch videos that can be displayed from the Macbook and then shown on the board.

    We are all so excited!

    Thank you again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Burke

  • A Place To Organize Our Homework!

    Funded Sep 8, 2024

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. You have no idea how grateful we are for your support. My student's faces lit up when they saw the boxes coming into our classroom and then to see when I opened them that they were getting their very own homework planner added to their happiness.

These homework planners will allow for my fabulous fourth grade students to have a place to write their homework in every day. It will help them to become responsible and very organized which will help them to succeed as n school.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Burke

Many of my students are new to America. They are new to the English language and have come here to live a better life. Some of them are separated from their parents to live here with another family member in order to get a better education. The Time for kids magazines will help me to expose my students to the English language and to what is going on around them in America. The magazines will teach the students about subjects effecting elementary students just like themselves. The students will be able to read with a partner or work in small group with the teacher.
