Diverse Books for Diverse Readers
Funded Aug 8, 2024We are excited to share the positive impact that your support has had on our students through our recent project focusing on new texts in our classroom. Here's how this initiative has transformed our reading program:
Skills and Lessons Introduced by New Texts:
Enhanced Critical Thinking: The new texts have encouraged students to engage deeply with the material, analyzing character motivations and themes. They are learning to evaluate different perspectives and make connections to real-life situations.
Expanded Vocabulary: Exposure to a variety of genres has significantly broadened our students' vocabulary. They are not only learning new words but are also using them effectively in discussions and writing.
Improved Comprehension Strategies: We have implemented lessons that focus on summarizing, predicting outcomes, and questioning the text. Students are becoming more proficient at understanding and interpreting what they read.
Cultural Appreciation: The diverse selection of books reflects a range of cultures and experiences, fostering empathy among students and promoting a greater understanding of the world around them.
Literary Analysis Skills: Students are developing the ability to identify literary devices and understand their impact on the story, which deepens their appreciation for literature.
Your generous contributions have allowed us to cultivate a vibrant reading environment that supports all of our students' growth. Thank you for believing in the power of literacy and for making a difference in our classroom!”

Funded Aug 22, 2022I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful donation to my classroom. My students have enjoyed the supplies as much as I have. They love going to the writing center because there are materials for each child. The students have enjoyed exploring the different types of writing. My sweet students even took their learning to the next level by sorting our books into fiction and nonfiction. Learning has come to life for my sweet English language learners because of generous people like you.
Your generosity has changed the lives of my students, present and future. Your donations give my students pride and unrelenting motivation, because you believe in them! We are incredibly thankful for donors such as you!
Donors like you are the real champions of public education. You see the need and rise to the occasion time and time again. Our students were thrilled when the boxes arrived and they knew that we would continue to create together because we had the necessary tools that once were lacking.”
