  • Help Make Our Middle School Classrooms More Sensory Friendly

    Funded Jan 16, 2025

Thank you again for your generosity and support of our students at MS447.

Sensory supports not only benefit our ADHD and Autistic students - but all of our students.

Students love having access to different fidget toys in the classroom - and quiet ones are helpful to not disturb other learners also. The ring fidgets and the marble fidgets are very popular and helpful for many of our students.

Wobble stools are helpful for students who need to move whilst learning. Theses stools are now in both the OT room and classrooms throughout the school and are a huge hit with students who may need to wiggle whilst working in the classroom.

Thanks again for your support of public education and my Nuerodivergent middle schoolers!”

    With gratitude,

    Mx. Nat

  • Help Provide Sensory Supports for our Neurodivergent Middle Schoolers

    Funded Dec 7, 2024

Thank you again for your generosity and support of our students at MS447.

Sensory supports not only benefit our ADHD and Autistic students - but all students.

Students love having access to different fidget toys in the classroom - and quiet ones are helpful to not disturb other learners also. The ring fidgets and the marble fidgets are very popular and helpful for many of our students.

The bouncy bands are great for those students who need to move whilst learning and are in different classrooms across the school as well as in my OT room so that students have a chance to try them out.

Finally the weighted lappads have been very helpful for many students as a grounding/calming tool to help support their learning and regulation.

Thanks again for your support of public education and my Nuerodivergent middle schoolers!”

  • Help Provide Sensory Supports for Nuerodivergent Middle Schoolers

    Funded Nov 29, 2023

Thank you again for your generous support and donation to help my Nuerodivergent students. The supports have really made a huge impact for my students and helping to provide the much needed sensory support they need.

Weighted lappads and the wiggle cushions have been given to some classrooms as we build up the individual supports for our classrooms. They are used every lesson for students to support grounding and/or focus.

Bouncy bands have been given to classrooms to place on chairs to help provide movement throughout the class.

We have a long way to go to provide a truly sensory friendly school but these supports and materials that you helped to purchase are making a huge impact to our school and students.

    Thank you!!!”

  • Support Neurodiversity and Sensory Needs in Middle School

    Funded Nov 27, 2023

Thank you again for your generous support and donation to help my Nuerodivergent students. The supports have really made a huge impact for my students and helping to provide the much needed sensory support they need.

The trampoline is used almost every OT session to help provide some much needed movement. It is also used by students at other times to support their sensory diet/needs. Although many of these students report they do not like P.E - they really do love and need movement. The trampoline has been one super helpful tool to help support their needs and give students the movement to regulate and get a brain break.

Weighted lappads and the wiggle cushions have been given to some classrooms as we build up the individual supports for our classrooms. They are used every lesson for students to support grounding and/or focus.

We have a long way to go to provide a truly sensory friendly school but these supports and materials that you helped to purchase are making a huge impact to our school and students.

  • Mask Up! Individual Therapy Supplies For Students

    Funded Oct 22, 2020

Well what a school it has been so far! Juggling remote and in person in order to keep our school community safe is exhausting for students and staff! But with your help things have been that little bit easier so far! I cannot thank you enough for your generosity, and the help you have personally given to my students.

Having extra masks in my therapy room has made it possible to practice the new skill of taking on and off masks. It also means we have extras on hand for the many times they end up on the floor, in mouths, or just get dirty! The fun colors and pictures make it more motivating for my students to want to wear the masks.

We use the book "Germs are not for sharing" to continue to reinforce the importance of washing our hands at school and at home.

More individual supplies means less cleaning between sessions and the students love having their own individual supply containers. For example, some of my students have been using the stress balls in the class room or in their therapy sessions to help with staying focused or calming down when they are upset. Being able to provide students with items that they otherwise may not be able to use (as they cannot be cleaned) is making a great difference to my students learning.

I have been using the Teachers pay teachers gift card to buy ready made materials that are interactive for my students in the classroom or in their teletherapy sessions. These virtual activities have been a huge hit with students.

Thank you again for your support of Special Education, NYC public schools, and most of all your support of me and my students.”

  • Individual Therapy Supplies to Help Stop the Spread of Germs

    Funded Sep 21, 2020

I cannot thank you enough for your generosity, and the help you have personally given to my students.

My students LOVE having their own supply bins. They even have to practice opening and closing them. They love being able to open and choose from their own therapy bins. Being able to provide students with items that they otherwise may not be able to use (As they cannot be cleaned) is making a great difference to my students learning.

For those learning at home, the supplies are a game changer! It has been great to deliver the materials to the students families, and it's really making a difference in the impact of their sessions. The heavy duty ziplock bags are perfect and they keep all the therapy items together in an easy way for the students at home. My students learn best with hands on learning, and I'm so happy to be able to provide these materials in such a difficult time.

Thank you again for your support of Special Education, NYC public schools, and most of all your support of me and my students.”

  • Technology for Teletherapy!

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

Thank you so much for your generosity in helping me get tools and technology to support my students learning!

Having a laminator is an educators dream. I have been able to make many resources for my students, that can be used over and over again. This has been helpful for my students that were provided supplies at home, as we can reuse the worksheets multiple times.

I can now also laminate resources that can be provided for teachers in the students classrooms also for when I'm working in person.

Having a document camera has been a game changer for many of my Teletherapy sessions. So many of my students are visual learners. By having a document camera, my students can now see my hands, and receive important information they need to learn fine motor skills and writing. I am now also able to more easily do activities such as "eye spy" and read alouds.

Thank you so much for your support of my students, Special education, and NYC Public schools.”

  • Help Me Create Sensory Break Tool Kits for Our Classrooms

    Funded Apr 16, 2019

Our school cannot thank you enough for the new resources we now have available for our students. Many of our students have already greatly benefited from the fidgets and ear muffs. Fidgets are helping students in the classroom sit and focus. They use them throughout the day to stay calm and focus on his work.

The ear muffs are being used for some children who are very sensitive to noise. When we go on field trips, or sit in the loud lunchroom/gymnasium these earmuffs have been helpful for these students to stay calmer and stay with the class. For example, before we had these earmuffs one kindergartner would cry the entire time he was in a loud busy environment. Now he uses the earmuffs and is able to be calm, stay with his class, and engage with his peers and the activities.

We are very grateful for these new items for our students and classrooms! Thank you!”

  • Help us Teach Personal Hygiene to Our Students with Autism

    Funded Apr 7, 2019

Our school cannot thank you enough for the new resources we now have available for our students. Our students have benefited from using actual hygiene supplies to learn important self care skills. We have been learning how to brush our teeth, wash our hands, personal hygiene, and how to wash our face. Not only are these skills important for our students at school, but also for their greater independence in the community.

It also provides supplies for students who may need to attend to personal hygiene at school.

We are very grateful for these new items for our classrooms! Thank you!”
