My students are natural born scholars. They come from complicated, and sometimes unpleasant, background that create academic and social barriers for them. My students mostly come from a low-income family and are often times first generation. They are English Language Learners and do not feel very comfortable with academic challenges. They are growing up in a very unwelcoming neighborhood where many students do not complete their high school education, and a small percentage continues onto college. My school seeks to support students in achieving academic success so that they have more choices as they grow.
