I work with Pre-school students who have a diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Disorder. The abilities and disabilities of my students vary greatly, as do their interests. As they say, "If you have met one child with Autism, then you have met one child with Autism" (Author unknown) and in the past 16 years, I have met many children with Autism. I always focus on the fact that Autism is a piece of the child, not the whole child. Just like allergies or liking a specific football team is just a piece of each adult. It is important to educate the whole child.
