I work in a poverty stricken school district. Most of my students have very rough home lives and school is the one and only time they are able to feel safe during the day. They have many challenges, some of which I could never imagine facing even as an adult. My classroom contains students on various reading levels from 1st grade- 8th grade. The large range in reading levels and abilities within our fourth grade classroom not only creates a challenge for myself as a teacher, but also for the students. I want to be able to create a fun, inspiring classroom where my students feel safe and where they WANT to learn.
