My students do not have many books at home and by providing a sufficient classroom library, I will be able to provide students with a book that they will love! I am hoping to collect a classroom library that has a variety of books that will encourage my students to fall in love with reading the way I did at their age. With a sufficient number of books that are extraordinary, students will have choice, select their own text and designate time to enjoy the love and success of reading!
The chapter books and box sets chosen will help my students learn that reading can take time and that longer books are just as enjoyable as picture books. I am not just teaching children so they can move on to the next grade level. I teach children to develop a life-long love of learning. Reading permeates every aspect of life. If my students do not love reading, how can I expect them to love learning?
