  • Books for Everyone

    Funded Apr 25, 2023

Thank you for your wonderful contribution to my classroom. You have a made difference in my students learning. These books will allow my students to read/listen to characters that share their same struggles. This is priceless. Thank you for believing in this project and helping to make it a reality.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Olvera

  • Essential Items: Effective Materials For Dyslexia Instruction

    Funded Nov 7, 2022

My students and I are beyond grateful for your contribution to make this project a reality. We have enjoyed all the new materials. I am able to create durable resources for my students. I am able to laminate our resources with the new laminator. This has provided my students an opportunity to practice their handwriting. They are able to write on our handwriting sheets with the dry erase markers. This is always an engaging fun experience. The students look forward to using all the materials. Thank you for making a difference in our lives.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Olvera

  • Reading Ready: Fostering Phonics Mastery

    Funded Apr 25, 2022

Thank you for contributing to our classroom. The students were in aw of all the fun learning games we received. They ask to play these games constantly. It has helped drastically with reinforcing their spelling skills. It has helped their social skills as they interact with one another to help each other spell words. This has been so much fun to see them do this, since they are competing against one another.

Words cannot express the difference these supplies have made in my classroom. We are forever grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Olvera

  • Creativity and Cursive: Promoting Handwriting in Dyslexics

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

I would like to thank you for your contribution. You have truly made a difference in our classroom. My students were so excited to have their own whiteboard. They did each activity with huge smiles on their face. When we use the gigantic magnetic board all the students volunteer to model the cursive letter.

This has improved their handwriting drastically. The boards have lines and they are able to use that to keep their letters the correct proportions.

We are so grateful for the difference you have made to our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Olvera

These materials will make a difference in my students' learning immensely! By receiving the Magnetic White Boards, thin line markers, and erasers, my students will be able to actively practice their cursive daily. Research has shown that cursive is very beneficial for students identified with Dyslexia. It is not only faster, but when writing cursive, the word becomes a unit, rather than a series of separate strokes, and correct spelling is more likely to be retained rather then lost. Dyslexic students struggle immensely with spelling, decoding words and letter reversals. By teaching and writing in cursive, the brain is engaged cognitively in a way that can't be achieved on a keyboard. Every lower case letter in cursive begins on the bottom base line, which makes it difficult for letter reversals to occur. But most importantly, is writing in cursive uses reading and writing which engages different circuits in the brain. This promotes retention and fluency. The materials will allow my students to practice their cursive easily. By creating a writing station complete with Magnetic White Boards, Thin Write and Wipe Markers (which promote correct handwriting positions), Tracing Boards, and sufficient erasers, the students will have everything they need to be a Cursive Master!
