Promoting Literacy Through the Use of Physical Dictionaries
Funded Mar 19, 2023... and so begins a new and intentional journey, fueled by a self-propelling desire, to know words and how they can best serve one. Your gift of these dictionaries has already ignited a passion, in my students, to discover, examine and then use words they never knew existed and wielded such magic.
Students are especially excited to explore the reference sections of this dictionary. These include maps, state flags, flags of the world, American history facts, signs and symbols and pronunciation guides. The thousands of colorfully illustrated photographs that complement the word entries are stunning.
We thank you for such a grand gift!”

Academic Planners Needed to Mastermind Student Success
Funded Sep 22, 2022Thank you so much for your support. Students received their planners and immediately put them to use. Already students and parents are sharing how much these planners benefit them. Both students and parents are now clearly aware of the daily assignments students are to complete.
The planners not only give students a place to record daily assignments and events and to plan ahead, it also contains lots of fun games like educational word searches and facts about U.S. history, maps, solar system displays and even a ruler. My students and I are so touched by your generosity and continued support. It is folks like you who are committed to the concept it takes a village to nurture a child. Thank you!”

Birds in My Backyard; Introducing Kids to Birdwatching
Funded Sep 27, 2020You have given the gift of wonder and a budding appreciation of nature with your generous donations. Students were so excited to start their journey of birdwatching and learning about the birds in their immediate community. Students were absolutely thrilled when could identify birds both by how they look and for some by how the birds sound. Our class was fortunate to welcome Keith Russell to our virtual classroom. Mr. Russell is the Program Manager for Urban Conservation for Audubon Pennsylvania. He shared his knowledge and expertise with students about birding and how best they might start their journeys as birders.
Because our physical school building is closed due to the pandemic, I had to pick up the various boxes from UPS access centers and then mail each student their bird book and a pair of binoculars. The effort was well worth it. Students are now so attuned to listening to birds and looking for them, sketching them and reading about them.
In January 2021, our community service project will center around the problem of birds crashing into windows. Thank you, again.”
With gratitude,
Ms. McBride
