  • Popping for Popcorn

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

When I put up a project for a hot air popper I had no idea how much my students would love it. My students learned how to make hot air popcorn using our popper and they discovered different flavor toppings we could put on it. I often challenged student to find a different popcorn flavors and they discovered that if they didn't add an oil that the herbs they were adding wouldn't stick. Some of the flavors students enjoyed making the most were spray butte, cheddar powder, cinnamon sugar and hot chocolate.

Thank you so much for allowing my students to experiment and enjoy a healthy snack.”

  • Hot Chocolate Keeps Us Warm

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you for helping keep my students warm this winter. My students have been able to enjoy hot chocolate after a cold recess and on days when it was just to cold to go outside. My students love pairing hot chocolate with silent reading time and as a sweet treat from time to time in the room.

My students worked to discover the proper ration for water to hot chocolate, and learned how to make a mass about as a posed to making one individual cup for each students.

Thank you for helping my students find the math in everyday task like making hot chocolate.”

  • Fractions in the Kitchen

    Funded May 17, 2022

Fractions always be the one thing in math that students dread learning about. Every year I rack my brain trying to figure out how to make fractions more fun and enjoyable. This year it was a no brainer ... cook in math class. Measuring cups are already in fractions and students were excited to know we were making things they could eat (popsicles, trail mix, energy balls). I am not sure that my students even realized that we were adding, subtraction, and multiplying with fractions because they were so engaged with "cooking".

Thank you for making learning about fractions fun.”

  • Can I Have a Snack?

    Funded Apr 19, 2022

School is hard enough without being hungry. When you are hungry it is hard to learn, stay focused, and even be on your best behavior. This year I was able to provide my students with snacks to help them be the best students they could be. The students loved the variety of snacks and were able to try new foods that they hadn't had the opportunity to try before. Having snacks in the room turned into so much more than just "snack time" it turned into a health lesson, and opportunity to try new snacks, and to make connections to what we were learning in health.

Thank you for supporting my students!”

  • Let’s Get Cooking

    Funded Dec 10, 2021

Cooking with my students is so much fun and became so much easier with this material. We made countless amounts of hot chocolate in the slow cooker smoothies in the blender and measured it all out every time. My students loved it. We made home made chex mix in the crock pot and used our blender to help us make Oreo truffles. It was so fun to see my students excitement while they cooked. My classroom gained a reputation for cooking and this years class has already put in request for what they would like to make. First thing we are going to make this year is applesauce per the students request. It is amazing to think that the students have so much fun the students have while they are cooking.”

  • Lets Make Popsicles

    Funded May 8, 2022

Thank you so much for helping my students cool down in the warmer weather. My students enjoyed making popsicles and loved eating them. Many students had never made their own popsicles. It was fun to see them make different types of popsicles and hear them talk about how simple it was. We made popsicles in the small cups and in the resealable bags. The students loved eating the popsicles flavored by the jello.

Students loved how simple it was to make popsicles and talked about eating them at home.”

  • Tie Dye-Ing Into a Good Year

    Funded Dec 10, 2021

My students loved tie dyeing. Most of my students had not tie dyed before so it was a great learning experience for them. Many student brought in items from home to tye dye and loved that we had a large variety of colors that they could choose from. Discovering that many students hadn't tie dyed before I decided to turn tie dying into a math activity as well to give even more students the opportunity to tie dye items. My students had so much fun and were so proud of the items they dyed.

Thank you so much for supporting my students and giving them a new experience.”

  • Putting Fairy Tales in Perspective

    Funded Dec 27, 2021

Thank you so much for providing my students an opportunity to see/ read stories from another prospective. Many students had never thought of the fair tales from a different point of view and comparing the two different point of views made for fun conversations in the room.

Thank you for providing my students these books they loved reading them and we had a great time talking about the different books. The students even did some research to see if they could find other books on the same fair tales from different prospective. The students enjoyed reading the stories so much they even wrote their own stories and comparing them to the two different prospectives we had read.”

Thank you so much for providing my students with snacks. Snacks help keep my students' energy up and help them focus throughout the day. These dietary-friendly snacks allow all of my students to enjoy them regardless of their dietary restrictions.
