Popping for Popcorn
Funded Nov 29, 2022When I put up a project for a hot air popper I had no idea how much my students would love it. My students learned how to make hot air popcorn using our popper and they discovered different flavor toppings we could put on it. I often challenged student to find a different popcorn flavors and they discovered that if they didn't add an oil that the herbs they were adding wouldn't stick. Some of the flavors students enjoyed making the most were spray butte, cheddar powder, cinnamon sugar and hot chocolate.
Thank you so much for allowing my students to experiment and enjoy a healthy snack.”

Funded May 17, 2022Fractions always be the one thing in math that students dread learning about. Every year I rack my brain trying to figure out how to make fractions more fun and enjoyable. This year it was a no brainer ... cook in math class. Measuring cups are already in fractions and students were excited to know we were making things they could eat (popsicles, trail mix, energy balls). I am not sure that my students even realized that we were adding, subtraction, and multiplying with fractions because they were so engaged with "cooking".
Thank you for making learning about fractions fun.”

Can I Have a Snack?
Funded Apr 19, 2022School is hard enough without being hungry. When you are hungry it is hard to learn, stay focused, and even be on your best behavior. This year I was able to provide my students with snacks to help them be the best students they could be. The students loved the variety of snacks and were able to try new foods that they hadn't had the opportunity to try before. Having snacks in the room turned into so much more than just "snack time" it turned into a health lesson, and opportunity to try new snacks, and to make connections to what we were learning in health.
Thank you for supporting my students!”

Funded Dec 10, 2021Cooking with my students is so much fun and became so much easier with this material. We made countless amounts of hot chocolate in the slow cooker smoothies in the blender and measured it all out every time. My students loved it. We made home made chex mix in the crock pot and used our blender to help us make Oreo truffles. It was so fun to see my students excitement while they cooked. My classroom gained a reputation for cooking and this years class has already put in request for what they would like to make. First thing we are going to make this year is applesauce per the students request. It is amazing to think that the students have so much fun the students have while they are cooking.”
