  • Marvelous Math Take Home Bags

    Funded Dec 8, 2017

These new math manipulative and games have been a real life saver thanks to you! My students are now able to have the tools they need to practice at home. Each week six students get to work on extra math practice while using the tools and games inside their math games. Students are even requesting they get to take them home every week. Many of my students are truly enjoying them.

When we first got the items my class was very eager to use them. Everyone was excited for more games and opportunities to use these items. With so many items we can even use these items during our math centers. But my class is really enjoying the Base Ten Blocks during math practice. This is a great tool and even better the way that it comes. So easy to keep organized which makes this little teacher happy.

The plan for these items is to keep sending them home and use them in class. Last week we had a chance to use them in class during centers and I had a student ask when we are doing math time, he really was so engaged that he thought math time was only with our math books! Was he surprised how great it can be to learn math without using our math books. Thank you again!”

  • Flexible Seating: Creating a Student-Centered Classroom

    Funded Jan 26, 2018

In just a few short weeks my students have really enjoyed the new seating options, thanks to you! I have students who enjoy doing work standing up and the new table top desks are perfect for them. This desks adjust to their height and they are more comfortable when working on assignments and following lesson plans. The metal stools are great for them as well as they can choose to sit in a non-tradional class seat.

It has been a life saver for me as well as they are more focused. The seat bands have worked well for students who need that extra motion but can sit and learn at the same time. My students are really enjoying these new additions to our classroom. The bouncy bands are really helping them release some engird but also stay on top of their assignments.

My plan is to get more seating options for my students. This is just the beginning for us but I can already see how flexible seating is benefiting my class. Thank you again for supporting my class. It is very much appreciated!”

  • Get To Know The People All Around Us!

    Funded Jul 10, 2017

I am very grateful to have had this project funded thanks to you! My class and I were able to learn about people from other countries and how they are similar and different from us. I was able to use the books from the project during our study of Christmas around the world unit. We were able to see many different backgrounds. These books helped my students understand those around us near and far. We were able to locate each country through Google Maps and explore them. Each student wrote a fact about the country and the people there. It was quite an engaging lesson.

I have a class full of readers of all levels. These books were especially helpful as each student was able to read at least one book on their own. I give my students independent reading time each day and new books are always welcomed. My students eagerly gather around new books and are always excited to read many of them.

Many of the picture books were especially helpful during read aloud times. All the books had some sort of message of acceptance and to be happy in your own skin. These books made for great discussions as well. Thank you so much for supporting my class. We will treasure theses books for many years to come!”

  • Reading & Playing Games With Families!

    Funded Nov 29, 2017

There's nothing like spending time with family. With this project you helped Mak that possible. My students received new books and got to take them home. They read them with family members. My students have book bags and were excited to take some new books home to share with loved ones.

This project was extra special as I also requested board games. Students were able to take home games and play with their families too. They were just as excited to have these games too. Many have asked to take them home again. As I rotate the games and books each child will get the chance to do so. You'd be surprised how many students this was the first time they played a board game with a loved one. Now thanks to you they can continue this all year.

I can't thank you enough for supporting my class. This has been a great project and I'm eager to do more like this one in the future. Thank you again for all you do to support classes like mine.”

  • More Books, More Knowledge!

    Funded Nov 3, 2017

Thank you so much for donating and supporting my class on my project for books. We can truly never have enough. These books get read many times as we have in class books bags for independent reading time, homework book bags, and small reading groups in class. So, they do get used up quite a bit!

My class was very excited and happy to get new books. It seems that they go through them rather quickly and having more on hand is really helpful. They really enjoy having non-fiction and fiction books. I especially like that the books are a wide range of levels. This helps me reach all level of readers in my class.

I have one student who is an English Language Learner who loves reading. She really enjoys having new books. So far this year her reading level has increased. I really believe it is because we now have a wider selection of books thanks to donors like you. So, thank you again!”

  • Getting To Know Our Earth & The Animals Here!

    Funded Jun 26, 2017

Thank you so much for supporting our project for books about our environment and the animals that live here. We use these books for more details about our Earth, the animal habits and how animals survive. We can never have enough books in my class as they are used and read over and over again.

This fits in great with our English Language Arts unit. We were able to use these books specifically for our small reading groups. In our reading groups we focus on fluency, comprehension, reading rate and prosody. We also use them for language arts text features like compound words and plurals. These books really keep my students focused on our reading learning,

My class was especially excited to get these books as we area class of readers. I had students who even wanted to take them home and practice reading there. It was a great chance for me to let them thanks to you. Thank you again for all your support!”

  • One Great Book Series At A Time!

    Funded Oct 19, 2017

This project has been very impactful for my students thanks to you! We were able to get books in many different series. My students were very excited to read these and can't get enough. These books will help my students practice reading comprehension and fluency. These two skills are very important for my young readers.

As you can see from the pictures I posted we did a book tasting to preview the books. A book tasting is where we sample the books for about five minutes and reflect which ones we liked. Afterwards, the students turned in their forms and I was able to give them books based in their preference. I hope to do another book taste soon.

I was able to get some of my non-readers hooked on a series as well! I had ordered books of all levels hoping that each child would find one that suited them best. This turned out to be a fantastic project. Thank you so much for supporting this project!”

  • Saving The Rainforest With STEM And Art Fun!

    Funded Nov 11, 2017

reinforcedHow exciting to receive the supplies that we need for our current unit of study! We try and fit in one or two STEM and STEAM lessons per unit. Having the popsicle sticks, tape, paper, and pipe cleaners will make our STEM time more fun. What I am truly excited for is the watercolors! These will go great with our Save The Reinforced posters.

My class was so excited to receive all these items. They really wanted to use the supplies before break so we broke in our watercolors and paper. Students were a chance to experiment and create their own works of art. The buzz of excitement filled the room as my students talked about what animal they will paint for their posters in the coming weeks.

Once we get back from break we will dive deeper into the Reinforced and assign animals. Students will get a chance to research and explore what they would like to include on their posters. Thanks to donors like you they will get the chance to create works of art! Thank you so much for all your support!”

  • Mapping and Navigating Our Hometown with Ozobots

    Funded Jul 24, 2017

Thank you again for making our year! We love our Ozobots, thanks to you. In my class we use technology everyday for learning new skills. One of our favorite things to do in class in code. These Ozobots make that possible. My students are learning the basic skills for early coding.

We used these Ozobots to create code lines and base the lines on our neighborhood. Students created their own maps and had their Ozobot drive by and go through the different codes they made. This was a great project to go over measurement and our community. It fit well with our English Language Arts study as well. My students really enjoyed using these robots to help them code and create maps.

We will continue to use these robots throughout the year. In December, these will be great during the National Hour Of Code time. We can't wait to use them! Thank you again for supporting my class and this project!”

  • Lions And Tigers And Bears, Oh My!

    Funded Aug 12, 2017

Thank you so much for supporting my class project! We have used these animal sets many times this year and my students are 100% engaged when we use them. We are working on our animal habitat projects and have used them for our green screen app to tell facts. The students were able to choose from all the many animal figures that each set came with. This helped them decide which animal to do a report on.

We were also able to use them in math and tell word problems. Students were assigned an animal and had to write a word problem with that animal in mind. We then uploaded to an app called "Padlet". Students were able to read other word problems and provide feedback and answers.

My class was very eager to use these items and were super excited to receive them. Thanks to you we can use them across many subjects and many ways. My mind is working overload just coming up with ideas to use them. Thank you again for supporting my class, we are very grateful!”

We are a Title I school. Most of my students are on free or reduced meal plans. We have many EL students over half my class are ELL students, which is low. Most teachers have a higher count of EL's. Our students come from working families and families that speak other languages at home. Some parents are not able to communicate English with us but we do have Spanish speaking translators on site. Our staff is very caring and committed to providing a caring, nurturing and a fun and engaging classroom for all our students. We want them to know that we will be there for them and give them as much as we possibly can. One great thing about our school is that we are on one to one devices, iPads or Chrome Books. For many students this is the first time they have been able to use and engage with today's technology.
