It's a DOGgone Good idea!
Funded May 8, 2025Having an opportunity to open a micro-enterprise in our school setting is an amazing benefit for my students. They will be able to come up with a business plan, create advertising, make the dog treats, sell them, stock them and deal with the financial aspects of running a business as well. These skills will give my students a huge advantage going into life after high school. Thank you for helping make this dream a reality! You are so very appreciated.”

Funded Aug 15, 2024Receiving these novels for my ASD Literature class has made such an amazing impact on my students. Many of my students have never read anything beyond a picture book, allowing them to experience the journey that a novel can take them on, has been such a joy as a teacher.
My students have read the Harry Potter novel and have started using new vocabulary that they have never used before. They have become much more confident in their reading skills and their comprehension scores are soaring with the novel material.
Finding books that really hold the interest of my students has been such an important part of their reading journey and I can not thank you all enough for helping get these books for my classroom!”

Funded Sep 23, 2024I can not thank you enough for supporting my classroom with mental health items. My class is comprised of students with autism of all levels. Students with autism have many sensory and regulatory needs to help them become comfortable in their learning environment.
The materials you provided to my classroom will give my students flexible seating where they can be comfortable to read, socialize and relax. You also provided some really amazing lights that will help students that need visual sensory input. These lights are interesting to look at but not distracting to the classroom. They are a great addition to our classroom. We were also given Sounds of Rain tubes. These tubes are great auditory input for sensory seekers with the bonus of falling beads which supports visual sensory seekers as well.
Finally, we were provided some great mindfulness posters. One of which is Inside Out characters showing the different emotions. Using these characters allows my students another avenue to connect with out they are feeling and understand how they can support themselves and or ask for the support they need when having feelings.
All of these items will improve my classroom and my student's ability to be their best selves while here.”

Funded Jan 5, 2024Your generous donation to our comfort closet has helped the students in my class more than you know. Almost daily I have students in need of replacement clothing due to a variety of reasons. They know they can come into my room, go to our closet, find their size and get a fresh set of clothes without having to worry about being embarrassed that someone will tease them.
We have students throughout our day needing items for daily hygiene. Our closet allows them the opportunity to have their needs met, take when they are missing and use it both at school and at home. We continue to try and stock items needed for high school students so they are comfortable at school and know they can get their needs met just by coming into our classroom.
Students are also thankful for the snacks that were provided. While our school provides free breakfast and lunch, it is often not enough for high school students and they are looking for a small snack in the afternoon. We are able to provide that for them and it means that they can learn without the fear of being hungry.
Thank you again for all of your support.”

Funded Dec 31, 2021Thank you for donating to my project for a Comfort Closet. The students in not only my classroom, but the entire school, now have a safe place to come and get hygiene and food items that they need without the worry of being embarrassed or having to go without for the day.
Having access to simple items like a toothbrush or a stick of deodorant can help raise a student's self-esteem, help them focus better and for longer in their classes and just make their day overall a better experience. People often take for granted the simple items we use everyday and that not everyone has access to those on a daily basis. Our new Comfort Closet has made it possible for students to come get what they need and go about their day. The items are theirs to keep, so they are able to take them home to use or leave it in their lockers to keep safe at school.
Thank you for caring so much for my student's and their well-being. It means the world to all of us.”

Funded Dec 10, 2021Thanks to your generous donations, our classroom has become a much more relaxing and inviting place. My students have been able to explore new sensory items that they have never experienced before, a few students have found items, such as the Fiber Optic Lights, that really help regulate their sensory needs during the day. This has been a game changer for these students.
The bean bag has become a place that my students are able to go and take a break when their emotions need regulated and they need to take a break from class. It is honestly the most comfortable bean bag I have ever had!
Students have been able to use the Light Brite and clay to express themselves in a more creative way. This is not only fun, but calming as well.
The impact that these items have made in my classroom is immense and I cannot thank you all enough for your support of my classroom and students.”

Funded May 23, 2018Thank you all for your wonderful donations to our classrooms. Hands on learning help my students understand math in a more meaningful way.
When I pulled out our new math supplies this year, my students were so excited to see colorful elephants that they could use to make patterns. Making and completing patterns is the first math topic in September for my third graders and to be able to use these elephants made learning so fun for my students.
My second graders were able to use the same colorful elephants to complete their first math topic which is counting. Having fun items to count helps my students become more engaged and have a larger desire to keep working hard to learn a concept!
We were also blessed with a shapes and measurements file folder games set. These materials will be used in the weeks to come. File folders help students practice skills they are in the process of mastering and do so independently. Feeling independent in their learning gives my students a lot of confidence and boosts their self esteem.
The items my students are enjoying the most are our math games CD's. They are adding, subtracting, matching colors and shapes and doing so in a fun game environment. They are becoming so successful with their learning all because of wonderful donors such as yourself.
Your support to my class and my students means so much. I thank you all for supporting us and our journey of learning math!

Hands-on Learning in Fun!
Funded Jan 26, 2018I cannot say thank you enough to all of you who donated to our class. We were able to purchase 2 amazing Science kits, a wonderful set of Social Studies file folder games as well as a very interactive calendar program for our morning meeting time. Having these hands on materials to work with makes our lessons come to life.
My students are all benefiting from the materials every day. Our morning meeting goes so well that my students are now asking to keep going, to answer morning rhyming word questions, asking to pick more letters to show what words start which those letters and raising their hands to ask for a turn to count the gumballs in the gumball machine. We are also now able to do a weather section which includes picking appropriate clothes and accessories for the current weather. This interactive learning makes my students become more engaged and helps them retain the material!
The Science boxes are amazing. We will start a unit on magnets soon and we are stocked full of different size magnets and materials to test. The students enjoyed opening the boxes and looking through all the new hands on materials we have to work with. They look forward to Science every day!
Social Studies concepts are very difficult to teach because the concepts are not concrete or hands on the way Science is. With our new file folder games, my students are able to touch, manipulate and interact with the materials and this helps them understand the material on a whole new level.
Again I would like to thank you for supporting my class. My students and I are so thankful that you were willing to support our room and help my students become better learners and have fun while doing it!”

Funded Feb 1, 2017Thank you all for helping support our efforts to purchase a laminator. We, the staff of Hoover Elementary in Lincoln Park, greatly appreciate your donations.
With your donations we were able to purchase a 40 inch laminator. This laminator allows us to create materials for our students that will hold up to the day to day use that we put them through. The more durable the materials, the more students are able to use and learn from them now and in the future.
The materials we create often become a part of a child's daily routine, and that routine is very important to the success of our students with autism. Every student, no matter their ability level, is able to benefit from materials we are able to create with our new machine. They use these materials to hep master things such as matching their colors, answering math problems and learning to read. We can create colorful, meaningful materials that will have a huge impact on our student's learning.
Having this laminator has made our jobs as teachers much easier and allowed us to create materials that help our students grow and learn.
Thank you again for your donation.”
