Part of my task in closing the achievement gap is simply to provide access to resources that will expose my urban students to the wonderful world of technology, a 21st Century skill, as a medium to explore and communicate with the world around them. In this globalized society, visual technology is a particularly powerful medium of communication. For the vast majority of my students, who are English Language Learners, access to video technology will not only encourage and support their language development while advancing their technological awareness and expertise, but it will also serve as a powerful method of engaging them as active learners in their own educational processes and experiences. Flip videos will provide more opportunities for agency and ownership of their learning.
