The students at our school are a diverse group. Not only do they have different ethnic backgrounds, but many of them come from blue-collar families. Their parents are water men, farmers, and even chicken factory workers. These students host a wide variety of interests and talents. Some of our students have been uprooted from life in the big city and find themselves living in a place that is often called, "Little Baltimore." This label is not necessarily a good thing. On one hand the community holds a fascinating history; yet, many look past this history because of the high crime rate. Despite the diversity of these students, one thing remains the same. They attend a rural school in a community that is often overlooked when it comes to funding.
