Reaching the Outer Limits With Technology
Funded Nov 9, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donations and help funding these iPads for our classroom. They have been very beneficial to our instructional day. As soon as my students learned we were receiving two new iPads, they were super excited! They couldn't wait to start using them! My students have been provided with tools for making learning fun and exciting!
My students' eagerness to learn has significantly increased since receiving these iPads. They have been able to excel in the quality of projects and work they complete. They have been using these iPads to complete assignments on Google Docs. This spring, my students produced their own informational books using these iPads and resources such as Google Slides. They also use these iPads for research and to complete online assignments.
There is no way to fully express my gratitude for your support. I am continually inspired by the dedication and generosity of donors like yourself who answer the call to give.”

Funded Nov 20, 2015Thank you so much for your kind generosity and for contributing to the funding of this project! My students and I are so tremendously grateful that there are people out there who want to enhance the learning experience for students with technology.
We have been very busy using our new iPads in the classroom! The students use the iPads on a regular basis to research information. The iPads came especially handy when the students were writing their own informational books!
The students also use the iPads on a regular basis to to take online quizzes as part of our Accelerated Reader program. The students read books at their individual reading level and take vocabulary and comprehension quizzes online. This program helps improve students' literacy skills.
Lastly, the students have been busy creating Keynote presentations on our new iPads. As part of our new Common Core Standards, students are expected to read a lot informational text pieces. Our students receive Time for Kids (a weekly news magazine). The students read the articles, then do follow up research on the week's subject. They use the iPads to watch news videos related to the subject as well as other online articles to take notes and compare information. The students present a Keynote presentation with all relevant information they have found on the week's subject to the class.
I can see the difference these iPads have made in my classroom. We now have a total of six thanks to you and others like you have so generously given to our classroom. We hope to continue receiving donations on future projects so that one day we can have a whole class set of iPads. Thank you again for supporting our classroom!”

Tech Savvy And Ready To Take On The World!
Funded Sep 15, 2014Thank you tremendously and from the bottom of our hearts for your great generosity! I cannot even begin to express how thankful and grateful we are for receiving these Mini iPads. My students were super excited when they heard we would be receiving 3 Mini iPads to use as a resource in our classroom. The day they arrived, they were just as excited as I was to open the boxes. They couldn't wait to get started and began working on them right away.
These iPads have served many purposes in our classroom. My students use the iPads to take online comprehension tests on books they have read. Students also use the iPads to as a learning center to brush up on math and language arts skills based on new common core expectations. Recently the students used the iPads to research a topic for an informational article they were writing. The activities that my students have used this iPads for are endless.
The iPads have not only been a great resource for my students, I also have had many uses for the iPads. I have used the iPads to access students on reading skills,. I have been able to engage my students on certain topics by providing them with visuals or short clips thanks to these iPads.
My students active participation in our school's Accelerated Reader Program has increased because my students are so eager to take the quizzes that relate to their books on these new iPads. This year I have had the most student participation than prior years and the majority of my students have met their quarterly goals.
Thank you again for thinking of teachers and their students. Also, thank you for believing in our students and investing in their learning!”

Fifth Graders in Desperate Need of a Laptop!
Funded Oct 29, 2013Thank you so much for your generous donation! My students and I are truly grateful. When our box arrived we all cheered and did a happy dance. We all couldn't wait to open the box and start our learning adventures with our new laptop.
This laptop could not have come at a more needed time. Our school district has shifted its way of teaching students. Students are now expected to produce many technology based projects to show what they have learned. With our other computers in the classroom, this was just not possible to do. They are in fact older than my fifth grade students. It was very frustrating to see my students struggling to log on to the Internet at a slower pace than a snail and watching many important instructional minutes waisted as they sat and waited patiently. With our new laptop, my students created state report booklets. They also used the laptop this year to advance in their reading levels. Our school purchased a reading program where students read books and take comprehension tests online. Many of more students met their goals this period than the prior period thanks to our new laptop. Students were eager to log on and take their quizzes at flying speed.
This laptop also helped me keep my gifted students busy and engaged, while giving the opportunity to work with students that needed more review. My advanced students had the opportunity to play fun educational games such as "Who wants to be a Math Millionaire?" This game allowed them to practice skills they had previously learned while having fun and challenging each other.
This laptop has been a tremendous asset to our classroom. We have gained and accomplished so much since we received it and for that reason, we are tremendously grateful to Chevron. Super Chevron came to the rescue! Thanks again for everything!”

Teaching Leaders of the Future with Technology of the Past
Funded Feb 1, 2012Thank you for your contributions that helped us receive a document reader for our classroom. The students used the document reader to share their work with their classmates. Students were able to workout math problems in their journals and then share their reasoning with their classmates by placing their work under the document reader. My students were proud to be able to share their work with their classmates.
This document reader also helped students follow along with the classwork. I didn't need to rewrite questions or math problems on the board. Instead I was able to place a copy of whatever the students were working on under the document reader and project it onto the board. The students were then able to go up to the white board and work out the problems or write in the answers.
This made teaching and learning much easier for all of us!
Thank you again for your kindness!”

Funded Jan 25, 2012Thank you to all of you for contributing to this project. My students have enjoyed learning through the use of this laptop and your donations made it possible. We have used this laptop to go on learning websites such as Starfall.com, where some of my students reviewed the letters and sounds of the alphabet and learned decoding skills. Some of my more advanced readers practiced reading stories at their level. Students were also able to practice sight words and math skills through fun games. My students enjoyed having weekly challenge games that reviewed the skills learned within the week. As you can see by the expression on my students' faces, how this laptop made learning fun and exciting!
Thanks to you, my students were given the opportunity to learn and experience new things by having this laptop in our classroom. My students were also exposed to more technology this year than they otherwise wouldn't have without this laptop. In these difficult economic times, my students and I greatly appreciate your small and large contributions. Thank you!”

Mrs. Sandoval
