  • Remote Learning Requires a Reliable Computer!

    Funded Jun 23, 2020

It is with great appreciation that I write to tell you how important this new laptop has been as we have embarked on this unique and technologically focused school year! Before this year, I rarely recorded teaching videos, but now this is a daily part of my planning. This new, up-to-date laptop is compatible with all kinds of programs and software which allows me to use the most helpful features in my lesson recordings! The kids all across the grade benefit from this capability.

One thing I noticed right away is how fast the laptop is and how it can handle all the different programs I am asking it to run at once! Some of my stress has been alleviated by having a reliable laptop that does not need troubleshooting! Our school days are both virtual and in person, which is enough of a challenge in itself!

This laptop connects seamlessly to our classroom smartboard and allows me to display all types of things for all to see at once. One of the most important things is our daily Zoom session with the kids at home. This computer has allowed me to hold a morning meeting so that the kids at home can join in with the kids who are in school that day. The kids love seeing each other up on the board.

This has all been made possible by your generosity and this amazing new computer! Thank you so much for donating to my project!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Phillips

  • Toner Cartridges for Our Classroom Printer/Copier

    Funded Jun 13, 2016

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom project! The toner cartridges we received will allow us to stay fully stocked and capable of printing for the entire school year.

Being able to print and copy has made our super busy lives a little easier. As a Special Educator, I need to be able to print out meeting notices, IEPs and other long documents, and lots of student data. The toner cartridges allow me the ability to create all kinds of differentiated materials for my students. If I see a helpful visual on the Internet, I can print it! If a student needs a copy of a chart hanging in the room to be successful, I can copy it! Students love being able to take home work that ordinarily we need to save for grading purposes or portfolios. Now we can just keep a copy and they can still show off their work to their families!

Your donations toward our toner cartridges have made our daily lives less stressful. I appreciate your support! Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Phillips

  • More Toner Cartridges for Our Classroom Printer

    Funded May 6, 2014

Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom! The children were very excited to know that we would be receiving the toner cartridges that we had asked for. When we explained to them just how important having the ability to print within the classroom is, they fully understood how it has impacted all of us each day... Permission slips, homework, announcements, fun math games, word puzzles, copying student work, copying tiny charts, student IEPs... the list goes on and on!

As we have now come to the end of the year and we get ready to send our students off to the next grade, we have the huge task of putting together each student's portfolio to showcase some of their work. This past week, one student became so distraught when he discovered he would not be able to keep the information book he worked diligently on for the length of our writing unit. However, we were able to calm him within moments when we told him we would make him his very own copy on our classroom printer!

This would not have been possible without you, Donor! Thank you so much for making our daily lives easier and more convenient! Instead of worrying about things like printers and toner, we can focus on the more important aspects of teaching!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Phillips

  • I Need More Space: A New Rug for First Grade!

    Funded Oct 16, 2013

I don't know who was more excited to receive our new rug; ME OR THE KIDS! We have all been in wonderment at how bright, beautiful, happy, and comfortable it is. The kids could not wait to find out their new assigned rug spots and there genuinely is not a bad seat in the house!

The rug which is designed to fit 30 students has made a big difference in the comfort level of my students. No longer do I have to interrupt a lesson to tell kids to scoot over, scoot back, or bump up. Saying, "Ok, let's all get in our rug spots!" is all the reminder the students need to check their position and give them a good degree of spatial awareness. Students are now able to mind their neighbors and respect their personal space, which is a hard thing to assess at age 6! The colors on our new rug are so bright and the individual outlined squares are easy to remember. Before, students would have to approximate where their "spot" was on an all brown rug in relation to other students.

The new rug has definitely made my job easier as there are less interruptions and issues. It has also made partner work easier. Students are able to "Turn and Talk" to their partners smoothly, and it is easy for me to see who is missing and make necessary adjustments.

We love our new rug and appreciate all the generosity you have shown us this school year! We are taking good care of it and have received so many compliments from other teachers who want one of their own. I look forward to using this rug for years to come with all my future students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Phillips

  • Toner Cartridges for Our Classroom Printer

    Funded Sep 23, 2013

It was such a great relief to receive the 4 toner cartridges as a result of all your generous donations! The kids were so excited and impressed to hear that friends, family, and even "strangers" wanted to help us out. After talking with them about the project, and seeing the materials arrive, I realized how great the message is that we are sending to our children; that we should try to help others in all the ways we can, be it big or small, through money or time or just a kind word. This is so relevant to what we strive to teach the children at our school through the PBIS program.

Just this passed week I received the "TONER LOW" message from our printer, who was on its last cartridge, so these materials COULD NOT have come at a better time. And wouldn't you know it, the school's machine is currently on the fritz! Four cartridges will definitely get us through the entire school year! We are excited that our lessons will not have to be delayed or interrupted due to a lack of paper copies, and that we can make sure our planning and preparation remains top notch.

Your generosity and kindness is so appreciated! We look forward to a smooth year ahead!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Phillips

  • Help First Graders Get a Printer and Toner!

    Funded Oct 10, 2012

Your generous donations to our classroom project are appreciated each and every day! After receiving the All-In-One printer and 2 toner cartridges, there has definitely been a sense of added excitement and enrichment to our students' academic lives. Students are beginning to use the laptops to publish and print their writing for all to see. Everyone is waiting for their chance to make their writing come to life through the computer and printer! With the printer, students are developing their writing skills and craft choices. They are making decisions about font, sizing, placement; as well as noticing proper writing conventions. The use of the computer and printer together has also helped students to see the ways in which they can make their writing more elaborate and detailed, increasing in length.

The All-In-One printer has also opened up a whole new realm of possibilities for my and my co-teacher's educational resources. We are now able to scan student work, print off additional or various teaching materials, provide exemplars, and create duplicates of anything -- nearly immediately! This has definitely allowed us more freedom and ease when looking to help our students.

Thank you again for your support in making our classroom a brighter place each day!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Phillips

  • Reading 101: Prerequisite Books!

    Funded Dec 20, 2009

I want to thank you again for your generous contributions to my 1st&2nd grade Special Education classroom for a more plentiful classroom library. The book sets on Fountas & Pinnell levels A-K are used EVERY SINGLE day! The students love to choose a book on their reading level to read independently and are constantly picking books for me to read to them aloud. They have many new favorites since the book sets arrived, including Five Little Monkeys, Building a House, and Where Do Monsters Live?

The students and I had a long talk about the books we received, and the children were so excited to know that someone they never even met sent us the books! They wanted to know all about where they came from, how they got to us, and why you would decide to send them to us. I told them that very wonderful and caring people knew just how much we needed the books and wanted to help.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for choosing to help my classroom, and ultimately my students! Their reading skills are developing each day, and they are enriched by the books we received from your donations. We are all so appreciative!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Phillips
