We are a Montessori classroom in the heart of Englewood in the south side of Chicago. The Montessori model combines three different grade levels in one classroom. Our students' ages range from 9 to 12 years (4th, 5th, and 6th grade). This encourages leadership and collaborative learning. Due to the combined levels, our school operates on three-year cycles, which fosters strong bonds and relationships among students and teachers. Our classroom is like a family: we spend years learning and growing together, helping each other through challenges and celebrating our accomplishments. The students of room 312 love to sing and dance, write stories, and perform science experiments. Every day each child devises their own work plan, putting into practice the Montessori vision of self-directed and child-centered learning.
