My middle/high school students attend a small charter school established by a group of parents of Deaf children and Deaf community. Our school is a bilingual (American Sign Language and English) school striving to provide Deaf children the same opportunities and access to quality education that hearing students have. My students are the hardest working bunch of teenagers that you'll ever meet. My students always anticipate of coming to school not only to learn, but to have access to open communication in their natural language, ASL to laugh, communicate, read, dream with other peers of their own. They are always ready to open their minds for everything the world have to offer. I often receive a general applaud for the role we, teachers of Deaf, play in changing a student's life, but I dare to say that my students are changing my life. They inspire me to be better and work harder every day. My students are the reason that I love my job and can't wait to go to work every morning.
