Sight Words... Where the Magic Begins
Funded Feb 10, 2015"The true meaning of life is to plant trees, and create shade where you do not necessarily expect to sit." – Kamari aka Lyrikal
To say that I was touched by your sincere devotion to our classroom does not sufficiently express my gratitude. You have provided the means for more than 30 well-deserving, high-needs kids to experience resources that will aid their ability to read.
Through your generosity many of the struggling readers have gained the confidence needed to tackle new books, new words and new dreams. I hope you know that you have left a wonderful legacy.
I am grateful for all you have done, and pledge my best efforts in continuing to be the best advocate I can for these children. Please accept my warmest heartfelt thanks.”

Give a Kindle Today
Funded Dec 5, 2014Today I wanted to take some time and send a special, heartfelt 'Thank You' for your generosity in providing my classroom with a tablet. Using digital tablets for classroom learning activities improves understanding of topics, digital skills, creativity, independent learning and motivation.
I wanted to share an example of how we use the tablet in the classroom. I've started using a software called NearPod. It allows me to send the kids a code, which they use to login to a multimedia presentation. They answer questions, complete quizzes, complete sentences and drawings in real time.
The kids then send me me back their work and I can quickly evaluate it and send them feedback. The use of the tablet in my classroom has increased productivity, engagement and motivation. Thank you donors, for making my classroom such a fun and engaging place.”

Funded Nov 6, 2014When my students learned that we got our math manipulative project funded...they were ecstatic! They whopped and hollered and acted like kids on Christmas morning!
Since we acquired these wonderful tools, I've been using the manipulatives to help students develop conceptual understanding of mathematical ideas by representing the ideas in multiple ways.
For example, when I'm teaching addition, using a ten-frame, students can easily see that 6 is 1 more than 5 and 4 less than 10, or that 8 can be seen as "5 and 3 more" and as "2 away from 10."
When there is less confusion, deeper understanding can begin to take hold, develop, and
grow, thereby laying the groundwork for future mathematics learning.
Your generous giving have helped these kids more than you know.
From the bottom of my heart,
THANK YOU”

Center Time!
Funded Oct 15, 2014"To give away money is an easy matter and in any man's power. But to decide to whom to give it, and how large and when, and for what purpose and how, is neither in every man's power nor an easy matter. "
Aristotle
From the bottom of my heart, I offer a sincere thank you. Your donations changed the lives of many precious little children. They come to school excited, anxiously awaiting the moment they can get their hands on their center activities. I once overheard a student say he didn't want to go home because school was so much fun!
That's what you sweet donors did! You made children want to come and stay at school. You helped transform their learning into something fun and exhilarating. When you read this letter, know that you made a bunch of kids, somewhere in the middle of Florida, smile a little bigger and laugh a little louder.
Thank You”

Got Books?
Funded Sep 18, 2014"Reading not only has tremendous power when it comes to fueling the development of all aspects of language ability, its importance to the entirety of a human life in this day and age really can't be overstated."
discoverDuring the first few weeks of school, one of my students adamantly refused to open a book. When I asked him why he was so frustrated, his response was that he could not read. Thanks to you and your generous donation, today, this precious child opens one of the books you purchased and reads complete sentences!!!
These high-interest books provide tons of sight-word practice. Each book features full-color photos and simple text that's entirely made up of sight-words and rebus pictures, plus nonfiction topics that the kids love to discoverâfrom farm animals to the five senses. The students focus on just 5-10 sight-words at a time and get the targeted practice they need to make each word their own!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart......you just gave the gift that keeps on giving.”

Dr. Phillip-Malahoo
