• Wiggling In Second Grade!

  We are LOVING our new wobble chairs! It is so nice to have a safe and sturdy matching set for our classroom. When we change seats, the kids always choose the new wobble chairs first!

  Every day I notice the impact having these stools as a seating choice for my students makes. There are some kids that just need to be able to move around a little! I love that because of your generous help and donations I am able to give my students what they need to learn their best.

• Spoil Us With a Coil...Binding Machine!

  I have already used our new spiral binder for parent gifts at Christmas. We make calendars every year where the students draw pictures for each month. The calendars are such a cute gift (and keepsake!) and having the nice spiral binding made them look so professional. I know they will last a long time this way! :-)

  I will be using our binder for more and more each year. I am planning to use it at the end of the year to make our class memory books. I know that it will be enormously helpful at that time too!

• A Kidney Table for Kindergartners!

  I was so happy and beyond grateful to receive the email telling me that my project had been fully funded! The timing could not have been more perfect, as I had just been quarantined that very day.

  This year has been different and challenging, but your kindness and generosity goes such a long way. It's wonderful to know that there are giving and caring people out there who truly want to help.

  My students and I have really loved having our new table this year. It's beautiful, clean, sturdy and spacious and it's just what we needed. It gives my students an opportunity to spread out and learn in the best way possible. Thank you SO very much!”

• Kindergarten Chairs!

  I continue to be amazed by your giving hearts. This year has been very different from any other school year and difficult in many ways, but to know that there are people out in our community and world who care about teachers and our students just makes me so happy.

  Our new chairs are so nice! They are such a perfect size for kindergartners and they don't tip over easily (my old chairs were pretty "tippy"). I love the balls on the legs of the chairs--they glide right across our new carpet without any worries of snagging our carpet.

• Listening to Literacy in Kindergarten!

  My students have really been enjoying our new listening center! Each morning a group of two or three students gather at our new center to listen to books together. It is so fun to see my students having fun reading and listening to books in a whole new way! I just love seeing them in our reading nook sitting quietly and working together nicely.

• Sight Word Super Stars!

  When our easel arrived, I'm not sure who was more excited--my kindergartners or I! They were amazed at this huge box in our room and were just so anxious to see what was inside it. I was too! They squealed with excitement as I opened the box and showed them all the pieces for the easel. My students thought the Sight Word Magnets were super cool too and couldn't wait to get their hands on them!

  This wonderful easel has been a lifesaver for my classroom and how I am able to teach my lessons! Because I now have a large magnetic easel, I can give my students more hands-on learning experiences. Because of our new Sight Word Magnets, the kids can actually see and feel the sight words that we are learning. I feel like this is so important for young children and really helps them to be able to "soak in" all these new words.

  I truly am just overwhelmed by the generosity of our community and even people that I have not met before who are happy to support a local classroom. Because of you, our Porta Elementary students get to have a better learning experience! I appreciate your donations SO VERY MUCH.”

• Classroom Supplies, Please!

  Having our new bookshelf and classroom printer has really been beneficial to my students and I! Our bookshelf is working hard to house things like student reading journals (we use them almost daily), our Book Hospital (where we put books that need repairs), all of our sight word books, and puzzles.

  Our printer is used on a daily basis as well. I cannot tell you how handy it is to have a printer on my desk so if I need extra copies made, I can do it without leaving the room. Any time I use the printer, my kindergartners are just amazed. Sometimes I will make a copy of student work to send home and they think it's magical that I can so easily make a copy of something they created! :-)

• A Cozy Reading Nook

  My students cannot get enough time in our new cozy reading nook! With your donations, I was able to create a fun and quiet place for my kindergartners to read. They love getting comfy in our rocker chairs and settling in for some good reading time.

  When I showed them the completed reading space, my students were amazed! I love how having a fun and new reading place in our classroom brought a brand-new life to something they already love.

• An Organized & Inviting Classroom Library for My Kindergartners!

  I wish you could see the pure joy and excitement that my students could not hide when I showed them our new classroom library. They were absolutely thrilled!

  Immediately, they wanted to explore our new book bins and were so happy to be able to find books that fit their interests. What a wonderful feeling it is for them (and me!) to be able to find a book that they are searching for and know where to easily put it away when they are finished.

  Because of your generosity, my kindergartners have a new love for reading that makes me so happy. They are constantly asking if they can choose a book from our new library and I love that. :-) Thank you!”
