Funded Oct 25, 2019My students were very excited when I pulled the cash register and "wallets" out of the box. Each student decorated their wallet with Sharpies where they will store money they earn in class. They get "paid" for positive behavior, turning in homework on time, table group work, and much more. They have to "pay" rent for using their desk and chair.
They can also buy fun items from our classroom treasure box. Items cost varying amounts so they can spend their money in small amounts or save for higher priced items. This allows students to learn how to save money and exercise self-restraint.
The students are also getting the experience of giving change. They need to trade one, five, ten, and twenty dollar bills just like in real life. Their counting skills and understanding of money has improved. Thank you so much for contributing to buy our wallets, fake money, and cash register.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Hyer
