  • Self-Focusing Tools for Success

    Funded Jan 16, 2025

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for donating to our project for self-focusing tools. The items like chair bands, a wobble cushion, social emotional cubes, and sensory hand fidget tools will help many children learn to get along, express their feels, calm anxiety, and have a new way to get the wiggles out. I know these things will help the students focus more and thus learn better.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hyer

  • Scholastic News and More

    Funded Sep 11, 2023

Thank you so much for funding our Donors Choose project for Scholastic News, Cricut Vinyl, and vacuum. The kids have loved reading and exploring the many topics covered in Donors Choose. They love getting their own little magazine to read and write on. It is educational but also interesting. The videos and digital resources also also a great way to engage the class in learning.

The vacuum bags have helped keep our vacuum running and our carpet clean. You wouldn't believe the dust and debris that accumulate on a classroom carpet. The vinyl has helped me label our spinning bookcases so the kids can easily return the books when they are done reading them.

    Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hyer

  • Books, Soccer Goals, Air Filters and More!

    Funded Dec 15, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to our new holiday and social emotional books, soccer goals and air filters. The kids will love using the soccer goals instead of cones. They enjoy having books read to them and will also be able to read the books themselves. The air filters will help with the dust and other allergens and germs that are in a classroom. Again...thank you!”

    With gratitude,

  • Store Our Books

    Funded May 21, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to our storage shed and two carpet sweepers. The shed was a life saver this past summer. We were able to use a cart to take multiple boxes of books out to the shed and store them without lifting over our heads. Other years, I've had to store the books on top of my cabinets. That required a ladder or step stool with lifting high in the air. I also have a growing collection of puzzles the students can take home to complete. These also went in the storage bin for summer storage.

The carpet sweepers have been handy. The students can use them to sweep up the little flakes of paper, grass, dirt and other things that inevitably get on a classroom carpet. Again, thank you for making running a classroom more smooth.”

    Mrs. Hyer

  • Working Headphones! Can You Hear Me Now?

    Funded Jun 15, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to our project including headphones, 64 pack crayons, personal sharpeners, and address labels. The students have been loving the new headphones and using them to complete lessons in reading and math on a computer program called iReady. The headphones really help block out the sound of other computers playing talking and sounds at the same time.

The 64 pack of Crayola crayons allowed the students to share some of the more rare colors and color in individual pages of Starry Night that I then taped together. It looks beautiful hanging in the classroom. The students are also enjoying the individual sharpeners so they can sharpen their pencils without getting up. The labels have been useful in making new name labels for consumable books and folders.

Again, thank you for your donation and helping to make our project happen.”

  • Extra! Extra! Read All About It!

    Funded Oct 8, 2022

Thank you so much for your help in funding our project "Extra! Extra! Read All About It!" The students have loved diving into the Scholastic News magazines. We have explored articles on lost species of animals that were found again, Civil War history, famous Americans like Martin Luther King Jr, and holidays like New Years Eve and Chinese New Year. They've also enjoyed the videos and games that come along with the Scholastic News program.

We've gotten good use out of our heavy duty doormat as we've had more rain than usual and we have to walk through the rain to get to our classroom. The power strips are very useful for the many electronic items we have in our classroom.

Thank you for your part in providing these resources for my students to use and enjoy. It helps make our classroom a better place to learn.”

    With gratitude,

  • Basic Supplies and Prize Box Treasures

    Funded Jul 27, 2022

As the new class of students entered the room, they saw their own box of colored pencils and a hand sharpener for them to use. The kids were very excited to see these supplies that were just for them. Since this time at the beginning of the school year, the kids have used these things over and over again on a regular basis. They get to have a feeling of ownership and the responsibility of taking care of their supplies.

The students have also loved visiting the prize box to pick out the fun prizes including the oh so popular squishies.

Thank you so much for your contribution to our Donors Choose project for "Basic Supplies and More". Both the students and I so appreciate your donation.”

  • A Magic Carpet Ride!

    Funded Jan 17, 2022

Thank you so much for donating towards our new classroom carpet. The previous carpet was several years old and even with cleaning, it was still dirty. I hadn't even used the rug this year since it was dirty and didn't allow as much space between desks with the beginning of year COVID restrictions. When the new carpet arrived, we moved the desks a little. As I unrolled the new carpet, the kids were so excited. They love sitting on the squares on the carpet and listening to me read stories. Sometimes they come up with a clipboard to do their work so they have a different space to work other than their desk. The students also like to do small group work sitting on the carpet so they can talk and collaborate on projects. Thank you for helping make our room a more colorful, and comfy place to learn.”

  • Scholastic News and Mailboxes!

    Funded Sep 29, 2021

Our class had loved delving into the Scholastic News Magazines that you helped provide by donating to our Donors Choose project. We have read many interesting non-fiction articles on various topics from current events to social/emotional topics like kindness and gratitude. Scholastic News is a great way to cover reading comprehension while also having engaging content. The students also love the digital portion that is provided with our subscription.

We have also put our new mailbox cubbies to good use by having homework handed out daily in them. The students also put their finished work in them throughout the day. At the end of the day, they are excited to empty their mailboxes to take home their work and belongings.

Thank you for helping make this possible for our class for the 2021-2022 school year!”

  • Basic Supplies and More

    Funded Aug 23, 2021

My students we so excited to receive their own box of colored pencils, a sharpener, a folder for classwork, and a spiral notebook to use for our science experiments and notes. We've been busy putting all of these things to use. Our third grade class has been dissecting green beans and lima beans, planting seeds to track their growth and the life cycle, and building paper models to drop from the top of the play equipment to see how seeds travel. We've used the science notebook to record this data.

The new Better than Paper is helping revamp our bulletin boards with a fresh bright color that will last for years to come. The other supplies purchase such as new bulletin board borders have helped make our room an inviting place.”
