I am developing a classroom library that will inspire students to become readers. My goal is to change their perspectives about reading because sadly it seems many kids learn to hate reading or never learn to love it. I want my students to see that reading is beyond what they have learned it to be in school. I began my endeavor last year and my students met with great success. Kids who loved to read borrowed books all year. Kids who never read a book on their own before read three or four books. I need to further expand my library to meet the needs of my students’ varied reading levels and interests. In other words, I need to get the right books into every kids hands and I need to have a variety of book so that they will continue reading all year and hopefully beyond. Greatest wish: They become lifelong learners and readers. When four boys were practically fighting over one book, I knew I was on to something. However, I also knew I had a problem. I need to have the most powerful, beautiful and diverse classroom library that any kid could hope for. This IS going to be great, but I need all the help I can get to make it work for these amazing kids.
