Listen Up!
Funded Nov 30, 2021This year has been stressful. Incredibly stressful. Every little problem all rolled into one crazy day, every day.
Thankfully, with your generous donation, this year I have been able to take one less problem off my mind by having a supply of heavy duty, reliable, comfortable to wear headphones at the ready.
It used to be frustrating if a student didn't have headphones - there are so many good read aloud books and audio cues that they need to listen to, and if too many students don't have headsets to use the noise is pure chaotic. The headsets have allowed the students to learn in a peaceful environment.
Thank you!!”

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and one other donor.Teaching Kindness and Compassion
Funded Aug 12, 2021It has been a while since I received the books and materials for my class, and I have used them in very significant ways!
I used my cutouts to have the students draw themselves and represent truly who they are. We wrote character traits about ourselves, making sure to use kind words that support our self confidence.
Two of the books have been a major game changer - My Friend and Me helped my kids realize that saying 'I'm not your friend anymore' is hurtful, and another book helped my class understand how another student is Autistic and thinks differently than the rest of them. The books helped my students to grasp these concepts by giving them realistic settings that they can relate to.
Thank you for making my class a better place!”

Funded Jan 3, 2021Thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart for your generous donation! Especially those donors who, by some divine power, found my class project and donated to it without knowing me or my students.
I gave the students their headsets today, all labeled with their student number ready to go. They were really excited to use them, and they had a blast recording themselves doing their L Blends exercise! Already they have expressed a desire to read more and listen to themselves read.
I am certain these headsets will become invaluable in my classroom. Thank you so much!”

What We Need to Succeed!
Funded Aug 14, 2019My students are my life, and I am so glad I was able to get the things from this project funded. The rekenreks have really helped them develop number sense, the manipulatives have been hands on and fun, but honestly the most impact has really been felt just with the large packet of cardstock.
The cardstock has allowed me to do projects like arts and crafts, cooperative and competitive games, and rewards like my sticker charts and birthday crowns. Oddly enough, just that simple packet of cardstock has brought so much joy.
So thank you. For helping my students and myself.”

Funded Feb 15, 2019Thank you SO much for helping my students learn! I kept it as a surprise that we were receiving new manipulatives, so when they came in they were very anxious to open them and play with them! I taught them how to use them in our small groups, and then they went off and used them independently.
There is one specific boy in my room who loves the sight word clip on boards (the ones pictured on the carpet) and asks to use them every day! I can tell that he has improved with his sight words because his test scores have improved!
Again, thank you with all of my heart for helping my class! Without donors like you it would have been hard to have had such a great year!!”

Comfortable Seating for All!
Funded Aug 31, 2018This Thanksgiving (at least in the US), I've been able to really think about the impact our classroom rug has made. It has provided a safe space for students to sit and have their own spot. It has provided structure in our classroom. It has provided everyone a comfortable place to lay down and read a book or play a game. It has added color and a vibrance to the room that little markers on the brown carpet could never have added.
The students immediately loved the carpet; they weren't told about it in advance so when the custodians brought it in during class, they were a little confused. But once they went out for lunch and I was able to unroll it, when they came back in it was nothing but dropped jaws and squeals of excitement. Since then, the students have taken very good care of the rug and gravitate towards it. It was a sense of pride for them that they got a brand new rug, so they needed to take care of it.
Thank you to everyone who helped me and my students get the rug so quickly. It has uplifted our class and made it a friendlier place to be, and we are forever grateful.”
