Basic Supplies Toolkit
Funded Jan 17, 2025The new resources have already made a significant difference in the way we support our students.
When the students first saw the new materials, their reactions were priceless. One child's eyes lit up as they squished the fresh Play-Doh in their hands, excited to use it in their next activity.
The service providers also felt a deep sense of relief and appreciation, knowing we could focus more on the work with out students and not germs, especially during cold and flu season.
Thank you for making this possible!”

Speech Rug
Funded Nov 28, 2023
The generous donations directed towards PS 132's's speech therapy room have been instrumental in creating a more conducive and comfortable learning environment for students. The acquisition of a diffuser and rug has transformed the space into a calming and sensory-friendly setting, fostering an atmosphere that is particularly beneficial for students engaged in speech therapy. The diffuser, emitting soothing scents, contributes to a relaxed ambiance, while the rug adds a touch of comfort and warmth, creating a welcoming space for students to focus on their speech development.
Students are most excited to pick the smell in the diffuser or to guess which smell is being emitted. The calming atmosphere not only helps students feel more at ease but also aids in improving their overall communication skills. The thoughtful donations have thus not only provided tangible items but have also contributed to the emotional well-being of the students, emphasizing the profound impact that such support can have on the learning experiences within the public school's speech therapy room.”

Funded Nov 29, 2023The generous donations PS 132's speech therapy room have significantly enhanced the learning experience for students. The acquisition of an iPad, cover, and stand has opened up a myriad of opportunities for personalized and engaging learning. Students are now able to utilize various educational apps and resources tailored to their individual needs, fostering a dynamic and interactive learning environment.
The iPad has proven instrumental in assisting students in spelling unknown words. The device provides a platform where students can access interactive spelling applications and games, allowing them to practice and reinforce their spelling skills in a fun and engaging manner. The versatility of the iPad, coupled with the support from donors, has empowered students to take a proactive role in their own learning, making strides in spelling proficiency and boosting their overall language development. This technological integration not only addresses the specific needs of students in speech therapy but also exemplifies the positive impact that thoughtful donations can have on enhancing educational outcomes.”

Funded May 16, 2023Ms. Justine here! Your incredible generosity has been helping the students at P.S. 132 thrive during their OT sessions. Each student that has used the steam roller deluxe, AKA the "squeeze machine," has replied that it feels "so good" and has asked to use it session after session.
The "squeeze machine" provides proprioceptive input from head to toe for each student that helps them to feel calm, relaxed, and allows them to better understand where their body is in space. This is very organizing for children, and helps them to be better regulated and focused throughout the school day.
Thank you again so much for giving me and my OT students such a purposeful piece of therapeutic equipment. Thank you to Mrs. Plunkett-Hoefferle for creating this project for me!
With great appreciation,
Ms. Justine”

Funded May 5, 2022It is the end of the year and it was so sad to put away all the books, the games the cushions, and curtains that we received. Some kids are so observant and realized immediately all the differences other students were surprised when they did notice. Overall the room is so much more homey. I uploaded one before and after photo and the difference is unbelievable. Thank you again for all that you have done for us it is truly appreciated. Have a wonderful summer break and I cannot wait to do it all again this September.”

Funded Mar 17, 2021Deciding on which books to get for this project was a project in itself but I am so happy to report that so far the students are LOVING all of the books chosen. Using books to work on speech-language skills is so fun and selecting books children can connect to is so essential is cultivating their love of reading. I am so glad to expand my library to include books with different characters and different themes. So far the favorite is "it came in the mail" and "Saturday". Saturday is my personal favorite in the collection, very heart warming!”

Funded Sep 23, 2020While we were in the school building the tools that you provided were invaluable. They were objects that I used daily and that my students counted on for good instruction during a pandemic. The microphones helped me amplify my voice without straining it so that students could hear me despite wearing a face mask. I was so grateful for being able to use this product as well because Ms. Lubeck afforded me my own classroom. Previously I was sharing my room with several other providers and I would have been unable to use an amplification system. I am so grateful for this product. The next product that was purchased which I even brought home with me during remote learning was the HDMI cable. This simple cable allows me to use multiple screens. During therapy I use Google Meets which has many wonderful features but when I share my screen (which is essential for teaching) I can no longer see the faces of my students. Being able to see their face is crucial to read body language to see if they're understanding. it is also important so that I can see if they are shaping their mouths correctly during articulation therapy. This small cable has transformed therapy. Something that I didn't even realize that would benefit is that I can search for visuals while they are still viewing my other screen.
Honestly, truly, thank you!”

Funded Feb 14, 2020Here I am suppose to describe the impact that our sensory walks have had on our school and I wish that I could. I was over the moon when we received full funding for this grand idea that the O.T., P.T., and myself had for our school. We never dreamed that it would come to fruition.
We received our packages on February 28th. When the paths are installed, they need to rest for sometime before they can be walked on. We had plans to install over spring break to give the paths the necessary time to adhere to the floors as well as enough time for us to install them.
Our plans were ripped from us as COVID-19 hit and we were no longer allowed in the building. Last week we were finally allowed into our school building but with another barrier, the floors in all hallways must have markers in order to keep our children a safe distance from one another. These barriers are nothing compared to other challenges we had to face in the past few months.
Please know that I still have the paths and our collective dream of having them installed in the hallways of 132 will come true as soon as safely possible. I apologize for this inconvenience, I have no words for how disappointed I am that we are not able to install our paths. Please accept my deepest apologies.”

Funded Dec 15, 2016My students and I received the materials right after the holiday break, about a month ago. The students were over joyed to come back to new play and learning tools for their exploration. The enormous amount of things we received has also allowed for continued interest, as there is so much for them to do. We have been utilizing the materials every single day and they are always excited to use a 'new' material. Several students who were demonstrating difficulty with a certain concept have already mastered the information now that it was presented in an exciting new way.
There is no way to thank you enough what you have given to my students. We look forward to continued learning and success as well as mastered speech goals which will help at home, in school, and socially.”
