  • Wonderful Writers

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you for your support. My mission to improve the reading comprehension and writing skills of young children continue! With your assistance we have been able to encourage more children to have fun while writing. Overcoming the challenges of expressing one's thoughts via writing continues to be my passion. With your support, I have been able positively impact the academic experience and outcomes of young children. Knowing the connections between writing and comprehension is what motivates me most when I'm teaching early writing skills.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Burns

  • Brain and Body Breaks

    Funded Dec 19, 2021

Brain and body breaks have been a huge part of our social and emotional lessons this year. We've spent more time out of our desks thanks to your kindness and generosity. The yoga mats allowed me to make donations to individual students that struggled to stay in their desk so they could access the curriculum in the most effective way possible.

Also, this made is more mobile. We could easily take the mats to the playground, or two buddies could read right outside the classroom door. Flexibility is a major key to success in special education.

Lastly, while it feels like we're in the "end-demic", we still need to keep it clean. I have been able to clean my mats regularly which I can't do to a rug. Also, I have labeled them with students names to cut down on sharing. This makes it a little safe.

Thank you for giving me these options,”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Burns

  • Math Mania

    Funded Aug 4, 2020

Math Mania was a success! Each student was provided a warm up book and flask cards with a digital math pen. All of this allowed me to enhanced the student growth in math during what May have been my most challenging year ever. The most wonderful outcome is our class had the highest math score at the end of the year math assessment!!! What a success. We used the math books for morning warm ups. The student were able to practice their multiplication facts daily with the flash cards and math pen. The best thing is the pen would verify their answers so they could do it independently and receive immediate feedback. Thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Burns

Remote learning is about finding ways to connect. Multiplication is new for 3rd Graders. I want to make it an adventure that they will want to take. The Multiplication Pen adds a physical aspect for tactile learners. Hearing the answer will support Auditory Learners. The Math Journal is perfect for remote learning because students still need an opportunity to write. Whew, no screen time. Plus, parents won’t have to print anything. It’s a win win for everyone. Success depends on creating different ways for different people to learn different things.
