I teach over 100 students in 9th-12th grades Japanese each day at a public high school. In addition, I lead the school's Japanese club. My goal is to not only teach students how to read, write, speak and understand Japanese, but also to break down stereotypes, increase cultural awareness and give each student a little piece of Japan that they are passionate about--be it music, food, martial arts, anime, etc. My students are awesome! The neighborhood they live in and the resources we are given, are not. My students are very warm, caring and independent. I am very lucky to spend my days with them. I am concerned, however, that the students cannot get the basic supplies, especially with the current ecomony. Domo Arigato to everyone who helps me with this!
