My classroom serves the needs of eight students with autism and multiple disabilities. We learn through a life skills curriculum that provides the necessary skills to be successful in the real world upon graduation. My goal is to create engaging, hands on, interactive lessons which provide the students with the necessary life skills, so they are prepared to be active citizens in their communities. This 1:12:1 program at the middle school level assists students navigate the middle school world, increase their awareness of appropriate social behavior, and get the organization and sensory support they need to be successful. With the use of math and literacy manipulatives, interactive games, and technology, my students will be able to work on their academics, social skills, and various functional daily living skills. Your help will support our students to be more effective learners, as well as happier students.
