Social Emotional Learning
Funded Jun 25, 2022I want to thank you all very much for the new amazing picture books! A Walk in the Words book will be used to teach my students that each and everyone of them is unique. Students need to know that it's ok to learn at their own pace. This picture book will lend hand in hand with growth mindset. We focus on the Power of YET!. This delightful story allows readers to believe in themselves and they will be able to conquer anything given the time to continue to try.
I Didn't Do My Homework is a fun book to teach my students about rules, why we have them, why their important and to learn why homework is important to what they are learning in class. It helps kids to understand why rules and expectations are important for everyone. I often springboard off of me and talk to my students about what would happen if I wasn't prepared to teach. What would our classroom look like? Would I be doing a good job? Why or why not?
Again thank you so much for your continued support to my amazing students in Springboro. Without generous donors like you, I wouldn't be able to have as many of the additional resources in my classroom.”

Creative Resources to Extend Our Learning
Funded Nov 26, 2021The books that you donated for my classroom are vitally important in teaching my 3rd grade students. For example, you helped purchase the picture book Ish by Peter Reynolds. In this delightful story there is a little boy named Ramon who loves to draw all of the time, but one day his brother says something unkind to him about his drawing and he's crushed. However his sister sees something entirely different. She sees value in everything he has drawn. She says it looks like it's sillyish, etc. This in turn teaches him that his drawings are far more important than just getting it right. My students worked with a partner in our class and they drew pictures of anything they wanted and we called them our "Ish" drawings. The importance of this picture book is to focus on that we all see the world differently and we are all unique because of the ways we perceive things!
Balloons Over Broadway is The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy's Parade, by Melissa Sweet. This amazing picture book shows the puppeteer loved puppets and he designed and built creative marionettes. Then Macy's hired him to design for their parades. This story teaches us to always be inspired and follow your dreams. My students created their own puppets for a mini school parade. Our focus was on perseverance and creativeness. Being diverse is what makes our world an amazing place to live!”

Tables for Cooperative Learning
Funded Jul 22, 2021My students are using the tables your purchased to sit at while learning! Since I have all alternative seating in my classroom the tables are allowing my students the flexibility they need to use the Giam Yoga Ball Chair seats and the Core Wobble seats. Flexible seating takes up a lot of space and by now having tables in my classroom allow the students the space they need to be comfortable.
My students were elated when they saw their new classroom tables and flexible seating. One student said, "Wow, I've never had cool tables and flexible seating like this! I can't wait to start school!"
My students and I can't thank you enough for your generosity in allowing our classroom to become more dynamic to meet the needs of all of my students while providing a loving and safe environment to learn! You are all a blessing and my students and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

Active Core Seating
Funded Jun 5, 2019My students absolutely love their new seating! One of my new students said, "Wow, I didn't have these cool seats last year. I sure am glad that I'm in your room!" My students were elated with their new chairs when they walked into my classroom for our Open House to meet the teacher. They are so excited to begin third grade. Thank you so much for allowing my students alternative seating to allow them to sit and be comfortable in their learning environment in a non-tradition seat.
This seating will allow my students to easily pick up their seats and go wherever they want in my classroom to learn. The seats will be an amazing addition to my classroom. Thank you so much for making childrens' dreams come true.”

Privacy Shields Are a Must to Help Students Focus!
Funded Dec 12, 2018My students were able to use their new offices last week. They were thrilled at the opportunity of having brand new offices to provide them privacy while completing their weekly spelling assessment. They loved the blue color because that's our school districts color as well.
They were so excited when I opened the boxes in front of the class. They were trying to predict what new supplies our class received. One of my students said, "Wow, we get new privacy folders and we can stop using our old ones that are falling apart!" It was so awesome to hear the excitement in my students voices.
My students will be using their new privacy folders to provide them privacy when completing assessments, as well as when they just want a quiet zone to work in.
Thank you again so much for your generosity! My class and I really appreciate your help !”

This classroom project was brought to life by Someone Who Cares and 4 other donors.Bouncing Your Way to Learning
Funded Aug 28, 2017My students are thrilled with their new yoga ball chairs. Now all of my students have the opportunity to use an alternative seat in my classroom. By providing my students the opportunity of flexible seating has allowed them all to bounce and work productively in my classroom. Many of my students have attention difficulties and the ability to balance and bounce allows my students to focus and work at the same time.
My students were thrilled with the new colors of the yoga ball chairs and they were so excited that they now all have the ability to sit in a flexible seat. It is so exciting to see their little faces light up!
Currently my students are working on writing Pen Pal letters to high school students and will get to meet them before Christmas break. We are applying our newly acquired reading skills on main idea and supporting details, character traits, and comparing and contrasting. The new flexible seating will provide students the ability to learn and strengthen core muscles at the same time. I can't begin to thank you all enough. I appreciate your generosity and I know my students do as well. Thank you for helping make my classroom a success. Without your kindness this wouldn't be possible.”

Student Authors Publishing their own Projects Using a Scotch Laminator
Funded Sep 27, 2016Dear Donors,
I would like to express my gratitude to you for your generous donation! My students have been eager to write stories and become published authors. It was amazing to see my students faces when they saw their own class laminator.
They were so excited to begin writing their first personal narratives. The students became so energized about their class laminator that I was able to encourage them to type their narratives into Google Docs, so their stories would look like a professional author. The icing on the cake for my students is being able to laminate their stories to be able to enjoy for years to come.
The students will continue to work on their writing pieces throughout the year and know they can laminate their stories and projects when they have finished their writing process.
I am so excited for our new adventures with our class laminator.”

Learning in Motion
Funded Sep 14, 2016Dear Donors,
I am humbled by your generosity of the 6 Kore Wobble chairs, 6 Giam Balance balls, and 24 clipboards. My students use the alternative seating daily along with the clipboards. For example, as seen in the photographs I have uploaded, my students are scattered around my classroom working on creating an abstract noun jar writing activity. The students enjoy the flexibility of the seating allowing them to focus on their independent work while being able to bounce and work on their core strength at the same time.
My students were overjoyed be their new seating. When the boxes arrived in my classroom on Monday afternoon, the students kept saying, "Is that our new seating?" Then they asked, "Mrs. Brown when are you going to put it together?" I told them, "Tonight when you go home, Mrs. Brown will be a busy beaver." The next morning they were elated to try out their new seating!
My students have various learning modalities and by providing the alternative seating will allow them to continue to work on their core strength, while learning in a mobile learning environment. My students will be beginning on learning about chocolate using nonfiction texts and then we will be reading in 3 different chocolate fiction texts based on their reading levels. My students will continue to benefit from the ability to move and balance while working on projects, independent reading and other lessons in class. My students who have ADHD, along with other impairments will enjoy this alternative seating and clipboards for years to come.
Again, I can't thank all of my donors enough. Without your generosity this project wouldn't have been possible. Thank you again so much for your generosity and believing in my project as being worthwhile.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Brown
