I am special educator at a neighborhood public school in Chicago. My students have special needs. A majority of my students are poor and receive free meals at school. Our little neighborhood school uses a literature-based curriculum and - as a result - is high achieving. Our literacy and writing focus teaches all students not only how to read and write, but to lead literate, humane lives. I teach my students using the same high-quality curriculum that is used with general education students.
