My Second Grade Scholars start online at 9 am with greetings, social emotional learning, reading, language arts, math, and language development with whole class instruction, small groups, and independent work. Next, I teach other subjects of health, social studies, arts, science and physical education until 1:40 pm.
My scholars demonstrate enthusiasm to learn and demonstrate kindness to each other. They enjoy daily read alouds and applying reading skills and strategies. I have excellent participation in zoom class. My students' parents juggle multiple children and work schedules, so my 2nd grade scholars depend more on learning in live class and do assignments during the zoom time with me.
However, we have a daily problem of running out of “battery juice” from the iPads by late morning or early afternoon before the instructional day is over. Being on zoom live takes power from the iPad with unstable internet at home or with district issued internet hotspots can cause the iPad to “work harder” and decrease the battery quicker while completing online assignments or activities. I observed students’ iPads with 20 or less power before lunch. Sometimes I must excuse some students from class because they don’t have enough power to stay on and have them back at a later time for a short time. I sometimes have to dismiss the class to independent work before the official dismissal at 1:40 pm, because they are just about out of power as their current small charger is not able to charge their IPAD enough while in zoom class.
Therefore, I have selected the larger 4XEM USB Wall Chargers for my students' iPads for faster and more efficient charging of the iPads so my scholars/students can continue using their iPads to the end of the instructional day. Thank you.
