My students have limited exposure to using applications that are used in the world of school and work. As a Career Development teacher, it is my duty to teach my kids how to use basic office applications such as Google Apps and Office 365. Unfortunately, my school lacks the resources for my students to receive this instructional time. We are currently writing resumes, but have not progressed very quickly as my class has to learn the basics of Microsoft Office. I would like to give my students the same resources that my biological children have, which is technology for students on a 1:1 basis. My students take longer to grasp concept, as they have learning disabilities combined with emotional disturbance. With this in mind, they need extensive time with applications that are used in the workplace. If my classroom is 1:1, I can teach them how to use technology for work, and not just playtime as they do when they are not in school. We will use laptops for the following lessons: Work in "Codesters", to help improve critical thinking skills. Learn how to use the entire Office 365 suite to increase our college and career readiness. Learn how to use Google Apps, to increase our college and career readiness. Resume creation using MS Word and Google Docs Basic functionality of Excel and Google Sheets Project based lesson using PowerPoint and Google Slides. Use Everfi web lessons to learn about Financial Literacy and Digital Citizenship.
