  • Heidi Songs to Learn and Move!

    Funded May 8, 2023

Thank you for giving us a year of dancing, fun, and memories. We have listened to Heidi songs each and every day this school year. It has helped us learn and remember our numbers, letters, and gave us some fun brain breaks. This is a way to reach learners who may remember things better with song and dance.

As the year progressed we also used Heidi songs to learn sight words. I would often hear my students singing the song to help them remember how to write a word for their story. My students always looked forward to this time during our morning meeting and I hope to continue to be able to use Heidi Songs for years to come.”

  • Nonfiction Books For March Madness

    Funded Dec 15, 2022

March Book Madness is one of our favorite times of the year. The whole school gets together to vote on books we are all reading at the exact same time. We have a huge bracket in the hallway. We also play PE games and do art projects connected to these books. This activity helps to bring our school together in a fun way. We love to see which book will be this winner. We did nonfiction storybooks this year and the winning book was "Tuesday Tucks Me In." It was a story about a service dog. Thank you for allowing us to do this project for our third year.”

  • A Little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Thank you for you kind donations to this project. You helped with two major things in my classroom. First, you helped to get our reading groups started in the right way. There were a few pieces I was missing such as the magnetic letters, trays to store the letters, and small white boards. These were used each and every day in my classroom to help students learn how to read and practice making words.

Secondly, you helped give each student the chance to make a memorable gift for their parents for Christmas. Each student created a Silhouette of their 5 year old head to hang on their tree. They were so excited to have a gift for their families.”

  • New Supplies in Kindergarten

    Funded Oct 26, 2022

This project had so many odds and ends that we needed to make learning fun this year. We used flashlights on Friday to practice our reading with the lights off! The students loved this fun way to read and looked forward to it each week.

We used the large stickers to create sticker stories. We used them to write narrative stories, fiction, and opinion. It helped them to create an idea by choosing a sticker first.

The paper, pens, stapler were needed to keep our room bright and fun.

The vinyl dots helped us to stay organized and in our own space while lining up to leave the room. This was a visual way to give our little bodies the space they needed. Thank you for your help making this last year a success!”

  • How Much Longer?

    Funded Oct 14, 2022

This project was a must for my classroom. To start the year I used a jumbo timer to help my students be able to visualize how much time they had left for an activity. This helped with transitions and work completion. Once my timer broke they had a hard time not having that visual. I am so thankful we were able to replace the visual timer. We use this daily to help keep on track.

The learning games were a huge hit! They helped us with beginning sounds and numbers. These were a fun way to reinforce our newly learned knowledge.”

  • Classroom Favorites in Kindergarten

    Funded Oct 2, 2022

We have enjoyed reading more versions of our favorite stories! The Turkey series has become a class favorite. We just finished Turkey Claus and it was one of the most read Christmas stories. We read these books throughout the year and you should see their faces light up and the cheers in our classroom when one of their favorite characters is opened up. These books help to build lifelong readers. Thank you for putting these new books into our classroom to enjoy. Each year we will read them over thanks to your donation.”

  • Counting Coins for Desk Pets

    Funded Sep 12, 2022

Wow do we love desk pets! This is such a great project to incorporate good behavior, money, and special prizes. My students love to earn coins and save up for new desk pets or extras. They get food to feed their pet, create homes for them, as well as activities. This is something that is special to them and gives them some responsibility. They are able to earn the coins throughout the day to get new pets. This encourages kind friends, respectful listeners, and focused learners. Thank you so much for believing in this project and my students. Your kind donation has helped our classroom in more ways than one.”

  • New Needs for a New Year!

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

These items were exactly what I needed to start the year! The play-doh was used for both literacy, math, and to build their fine motor skills. In Kindergarten we LOVE play-doh and use it often. The big books have been a hit! They are two of our favorite stories that we use for our reading curriculum. Having them in big book versions has allowed us to use them more for lessons and shared reading. The headphones allowed me to give all students a pair to use this year even if their family was not able to purchase some for them to have. This year started off on the right foot because of these supplies. Thank you for donating to my classroom and giving us the supplies we needed to get started!”

  • Invisible Words

    Funded Apr 14, 2022

Last year I was looking for new and fun ways for my students to practice their sight words. They are supposed to be able to read and write 45 words by the end of the year. I decided to find some new fun ways to practice writing their words during station time. I made this project to get invisible pens and scented pens as a way to get my students excited about practicing their words. They couldn't wait to write their words and shine the light to see the word they made and write words they could then smell. This led to them writing more words then before and even get excited about being in this station. The file folder games were the perfect hands on games to practice numbers. My students loved the different engaging games and would use them over and over again. Thank you for supporting my classroom and making it a fun and engaging place to learn.”

  • March Book Madness: Nonfiction Style

    Funded Jun 21, 2022

These books are going to be such a hit for our March Madness reading event. The whole school will participate in this event and each week we will have two nonfiction books go head to head. The students will vote for their favorite until we are down to one final winner. This will be our third year participating in this book event and the whole school now looks forward to it. Once we have a winner each student in our school gets to bring home the winning title. The first year we did growth mindset books, the second year fractured fairy tales and this year we will be doing nonfiction story books. Our students are so excited for this event and it is sure to get students talking and excited about reading. Thank you for donating and making this school event happen.”

Very few of my students have access to technology at home and rely on the school to give them that kind of exposure. All of my students receive free lunch. We live in a very rural community without access to a lot of services. These materials will make a world of difference for these students.
