  • A Comfortable Place for Young Readers, Please?!?

    Funded Sep 10, 2014

Thank you so much for donating to this project! You have provided my class with 4 small and 1 large beanbag. They were beyond excited when the beanbags arrived. When they saw the large one, they were beside themselves. We have been using all 5 of the beanbags on a daily basis. We use them for reading time, during choice time and during lessons. Students have told me that they love the beanbags because they make the classroom a more comfortable environment in which to learn. I cannot tell you how much your donation has changed the tone of our classroom. We always felt like it was a home away from home but now, it is so much better! Thank you for your selflessness and showing that you truly understand the importance of comfort during the learning process.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Basovitch

  • A Fresh Start To The New Year!

    Funded Jul 23, 2014

Thank you so much for donating to our project! By making your donation, our students have been able to keep up with their passion for reading. My girls absolutely love the set of graphic novels about dancing and I constantly catch them having conversations about the events taking place in the books. For many of these girls, you have opened them up to a love for reading and discussing the books that we read. We have also been loving the other books that we were able to get through your donation. Additionally, the fidget pads (sit-o-discs) have helped my students with sensory needs greatly! They have helped these students to be able to focus while working in a way that they were never able to before. Thank you so much for understanding our classroom necessities and helping us obtain the materials that we need for success!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Basovitch

  • Please Help Us Beautify Our Boring Classroom!

    Funded Aug 21, 2014

Thank you so much for donating to this project! As a result of your kindness, I was able to provide my students with a beautiful and colorful classroom environment. My students truly feel at home when they are in our classroom and it is thanks to you! I have colorful bulletin boards and fun accent pieces that helped to bring a comfortable feel to our somewhat boring classroom. You have helped my students to see the benefit of being in a place where they feel happy. As a result, we are having an amazing year, learning and growing as Second Graders. Thank you so much for your kindness!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Basovitch

  • First Graders Need Help With Common Core!

    Funded Jan 17, 2014

Thank you so much for your generosity! By helping us to get these resources, you have helped our students to achieve their common core learning standards. For my students who were struggling with certain concepts, the math centers have helped them immensely! The resources have helped us to have centers and to work in small groups based on our learning needs. The Common Core Exemplar Text library has helped us to read a ton of rich literature. We have been able to read books such as The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and my kids LOVED it! Thank you so much for helping us to get these resources for our classroom and we will continue using them throughout the next school year!”

  • In An Age of Technology...We Are Sadly Lacking!!!

    Funded Dec 23, 2013

Thank you so much for helping me to move my students into the age of technology! By donating to this project, you helped us to get an iPad for our classroom. When we received the iPad, my students were so excited! They asked me to put specific programs and games on the tablet and I did. We use the iPad all the time! We use it during lessons and during choice time, on Friday afternoons, they students take turns playing games and working on learning activities. It is great to see them using technology. Since technology is already a huge part of most of their lives, it is wonderful to be able to provide learning experiences that revolve around our newly acquired technology. Thank you so much!”

  • Please Help These Little New Yorkers Get To Broadway!

    Funded Oct 2, 2013

I cannot even begin to thank you all for your generosity! Going to see Matilda on Broadway ended up proving to a huge challenge for us. On the day that we were supposed to go see the show, the weather was dangerously terrible so the schools' Chancellor canceled all field trips for the day. Since these were Broadway tickets, I almost gave up hope due to their "no refunds, no exchanges" policy. I ended up working with an incredible woman who was able to get our tickets exchanged for tickets the following week. We went to see Matilda this past Wednesday and my students were in complete awe. I did not realize how many of them had never seen a Broadway show. I was so excited to be a part of their first theater experience. I was able to be a part of it because of you! Thank you so much for your kindness and selflessness. You helped me to provide an experience that my students will never forget!”

  • The Floor Is So Cold...Please Help Us Get A Rug!

    Funded Dec 4, 2013

Thank you so much for helping us to get a new rug! The rug has changed the look and feel of our classroom drastically! The students are so comfortable sitting on their brand new rug and we love how nice and clean it is! When we got our new rug, we were able to throw our 6-year-old, stained and dingy rug out! Thank you so much for helping to make our classroom and more warm and inviting place. We love to lay on the rug and read during independent reading time and feel much more comfortable on the new rug than we did on our old one. Thank you for understanding that our classroom has become a second home to us and should reflect that feeling!”

  • My Poor Babies Are Being Robbed of Reading Experiences!

    Funded Sep 25, 2013

Thank you so much for your generous donations to help our classroom get more books. My students enjoy reading and I am glad that, because of you, I have been able to provide them with a more diverse library. Since the books are leveled, it is easy for my students to choose books that are "just-right" for them. Also, having more choices of books is encouraging the students who don't like to read to find the joy in it. Our library is brimming with tons of choices in different genres. Thank you for understanding the importance of variety, when it comes to reading. By helping to provide new books to my students, you have helped many students learn to love reading.”

    With gratitude,

  • We Want To Excel With The Common Core!

    Funded May 9, 2013

Thank you so much for providing my students with resources aligned to the common core. When we received the books and the common core learning kit, my students were so excited to be able to boost their abilities. They loved the books and grabbed them immediately. As a read-aloud, we read the Odyssey, which they absolutely adored. After I would finish one chapter, they would beg me to read more! The common core learning kit really helped my students to boost their math skills and they had fun while using the activities included in the kit! Thank you so much for understanding the importance of learning and how involved the Common Core Standards can be for young minds!”

  • Readers' Thirst for Books Cannot Be Quenched!

    Funded Mar 9, 2013

Thank you so much for your donation to this project! By donating, you have, once again, helped to quench my students' thirst for reading. They are all such avid readers that they go through books so quickly. Each time that I get new books for the classroom, my students read them quickly and find themselves with nothing to read once more. Since you understand the importance of reading and having the choice of many interesting books, my students have the ability to keep their love for reading alive. Thank you so much for helping to make this dream a reality!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Basovitch
