In order to easily share student work in the Student Story Portfolio using the Class Dojo App my students need a device they can easily pick up and snap a photo with, the iPad will do this for them. They do have Chromebooks, but it is awkward to take photos of art projects using these. Sometimes they would like to snap a quick photo of the gains they have made in a specific program on their Chromebook so that their parents can celebrate their successes with them.
My parents are able to ask specific questions about an activity we did in class because they saw it posted in our Class Story. Students aren't answering the age old question, 'what did you learn today?' with a shoulder shrug.
I am excited to implement Student Stories to go along with our Class Story. Parents will be able to see what their child has done specifically and not just what we have done as a class, as well as what they have done in smaller groups. I know my students will strive to improve their learning so they can celebrate their successes with their parents. I only hope that this will continue to increase their ownership in their learning!
