College Decision Day 2020

The students truly appreciated your love and generosity. Due to the pandemic we were unable to have an in person decision day program; therefore we celebrated our seniors virtually. Seniors were asked to submit their post secondary plan and picture to the school counseling department. Each senior who submitted their plan and picture was featured on the school counseling Instagram page and entered into a drawing.

We highlighted seniors for the entire month of May and June. Every Friday in May/June we did a weekly drawing for Chick Fila gift cards and College Dorm room supplies. The drawing included names of all seniors who completed their exit senior survey with their post secondary plan listed. The winners in the drawings plan to attend college for the 2020- 2021 school year. The list of colleges include: TNCC, ODU, Virginia Tech, VCU and UVA.

Many of the students are considered first generation college students. Some of the students depend on financial aid and scholarships to pay for college expenses. The Flat Screen TV, Printers, Fire sticks and Refrigerator will all be used by students in their college dorm rooms. The items will help the students prosper in areas of self-expression and self-direction.”
