  • Help My Students Hug Themselves!

    Funded Sep 11, 2023

Words cannot properly express my gratitude for your generous gifts. When I started my educational journey and career, I was committed to make a profound impact in student's lives. You have helped me attain this goal and for that I will be eternally grateful. My students articulate with their actions, the need for an environment that allows them to decompress and cope with reality, even when it is challenging. Thank you for hugging them with your gifts.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. A.

    Funded Aug 5, 2019

My room dividers, provided through generous contributors, are used daily in many configurations to secure a safe learning environment for my students. Whether I am delivering instruction 1:1, modeling resources for my students to achieve academic goals, or assessing students that provides unbiased and accurate results that target areas of need, the dividers are integral part of my program. Additionally, the dividers provide students with options for creating an area to de-escalate when they may be overstimulated or attempting to regulate their behavior.

When the students first noticed the dividers, the non-verbal joy that their collective smiles projected was infectious and tear inducing for me. It is a daily justification for the reason I do what I do; to attempt to make a profound impact on students in a transformative way.

Adorned with calming colors and soft durable materials, the dividers are appreciated by me for their many uses and functionality. They have been joined by a calming bean bag to provide further respite in a challenging world inhabited by my students. Words are not able to truly capture my thanks for helping me make future contributing members of society as they continue on their respective educational paths with a brief stop along the way and touch my heart and soul.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. A.

  • Special Needs

    Funded Aug 24, 2014

Thank your for your generous contributions to my classroom. The student's now have a comfortable rug to enjoy as they develop critical literacy skills which, are an integral part of 21st century preparedness. The bins, as pictured, are used for the classroom library that assist the students with organizational skills to easily access varied reading genres by level and interest. Additionally, the chair organizers help the students organize their individual working areas and are an essential tool in keeping the students on task. Our rack with art supplies is extremely healthful for the students during center work and the development of independent learning skills.

For special needs students, organization can often be a challenge in their daily lives and requires daily monitoring to achieve positive outcomes. Through your donations the students have moved closer toward self-monitoring their own individual challenges and long-term academic success. The students were initially thrilled with the opportunities to benefit from the resources and continue to use them in their daily schedule.

Both the students and myself are humbled by your gifts and are thankful for our guardian angels. As I continue to advocate for this underserved population in the capacity of an instructor, I am fortunate to have benefited from your collective commitments that align with mine; the right to a free and appropriate education filled with respect, encouragement, motivation, positive reinforcement for all students, exclusive of disability. Your gesture is constantly a reminder there are fellow humans that believe in the potential of all students; creativity and greatness paired with the gist of intelligence.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. A.
