  • Kimochis Curriculum

    Funded Nov 2, 2023

Thank you so much for funding our new Kimochis kit and training. The students and I are so excited learn from this new social emotional curriculum. We hope it will have a positive impact on the social emotional learning in our school.

In particular, I hope that the kimochis curriculum will help our students express their feelings, connect with the characters, adults and their peers as well as help build relationships with each other.

Thank you again for supporting the students and teachers! You are much appreciated and needed!”

    With gratitude,

  • We are Ready for Kindergarten!

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

Thank you for much for donating to my beginning of the year kindergarten project. This donation is especially important for my students as it came at the start of the new school year. My students are coming to school for the very frist time and they are so excited.

When they walked into the classroom you can see the joy on all their faces. They are greeted each day with a classroom that is set up and ready because of your generous donation.

Donors like yourself are such a valuable part of our community and my students and I can't thank you enough.”

  • My Students Will Teach Others

    Funded Mar 1, 2022

Thank you so "beary" much for donating to our classroom. The document camera comes in handy especially when my students and I want to show our thinking or share our writing.

The chart paper and cardstock paper are another essential part of teaching, modeling and learning from one another. My students are so excited to learn and the supplies from this project have truly helped them access the material in an engaging, hands on and fun way.

Thank you again! I appreciate your continued support to my classroom, school and community.”

  • First Day Jitters!

    Funded Aug 6, 2021

When students walked into our classroom on the first day of school they were overwhelmed with joy and excitement to see their in classroom with all their new supplies. They love using their "special pens" when they become authors during writer's workshop. They love using whiteboard markers to practice spelling words.

Their name tags and name plates are used daily to help them remember how to write their name in a "kindergarten" way. My students and I appreciate your support and generosity to our school and classroom. Arigatou gozaimashita!”

  • Writers Need Tools for Writing!

    Funded Feb 18, 2021

Thank you so much for helping me provide all the writing tools our class needed for in person writer's workshop. The students definitely loved their special pens for writing time when they become authors and illustrators.

The folders helped us keep all our papers organized, well, as organized as we could considering I had a class full of six year olds.

The dry erase markers were especially essential to practice our spelling with our whiteboards.

Thank you again for your support during this covid year. It was truly a learning experience for all and we appreciate your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nakamoto

  • Kindergarten, Here We Come Part 2!

    Funded Apr 9, 2021

Thank you for your generous donation to our back to school project in April. Our class, students, families, teachers and staff were so excited to be back in person.

When my students entered the classroom they were able to each have their own supplies which was much needed during covid.

Since social distancing was required, the students and I appreciated having enough school supplies and materials for all including caddies, name tags/plates and bins.

My students and I are extremely grateful and we appreciate your thoughtfulness during this challenging time.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nakamoto

  • Promoting Diversity and Inclusion Through Picture Books

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

Every week we listen to story read by our librabrian and teachers over zoom. This time is spent hearing stories about different culturals, places and events is important and for some of my students their favorite class. After each story, the students are asked to complete a lesson by responding to the what they learned. Sometimes my students draw a picture and sometimes they use their video or microphone and tell me about it. I love hearing what they have to say.

By listening to these stories, we learn more about others and about ourselves. We appreciate our differences and this helps us create a community of learners.”

  • Virtual Learners Are Ready to Go!

    Funded Aug 14, 2020

My students were so excited to see all the learning materials that they were able to take home for distant learning. They were so grateful and expressed much appreciation for everything that they received.

We use the composition journals daily for writing practice. My students are able to practice writing their letters and numbers. They draw pictures for beginning sound practice. They write sentences to respond to literature as well as practice writing their high frequency words. They also use the composition book for math activities. Most importantly, my students use this journal to draw pictures about how they are feeling.

The composition journal has really been a place for my students to keep all their work. They will remember this journal for a long time and I'm sure they will look back when they are older and read all the work they did in kindergarten.

Thank you for donating to my project.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nakamoto

  • Building a Community of Learners

    Funded Sep 14, 2015

Thank you all for your generous donations to my classroom. Each year, I request materials for the new school year and my new kindergarten students. My students use their name tags, people color crayons and leveled reading books everyday. Each month, we are using the calendar numbers to help us learn the days of the week, the month, our numbers and patterns. The students really enjoy and look forward to seeing a new picture that represents the a new month.

In addition to the resources we use daily, my students have also started using their draw and write journals to respond to stories that they read at home with their families for homework. I too, enjoy reading their sentences and seeing how much they improve from week to week and month to month. Thank you for again for your donation. Without donors like you, public school teachers and classrooms would not their the resources and support they need.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nakamoto

We are a learning community of terrific students and committed teachers and staff. My students attend an elementary school in a community that is highly impacted by poverty. Our students are also from many different language backgrounds and require specialized English Language instruction each day in addition to their typical classwork. Many students do not have consistent and concrete learning opportunities outside of school, and their Kindergarten year is often their first experience with literacy and learning. While our families and caregivers want to be involved in their children’s education, it is often difficult for them to provide both the financial support and volunteer time commitment our school needs to be truly successful.
