Standing Desks and Stools!
Funded Aug 31, 2023We, my students and I, were so excited when we started receiving these supplies!
The standing desks have been used in ways I never envisioned. Their favorite way to use the standing desks are to put their chrome books side by side, pull up a pair of stools, and work together on an assignment.
The sturdy stool is a life changer. Students can sit on it and NOT rock back and then end up falling over.
These are small changes that have made a huge impact on the running of our classroom. Students can make their own work space and sit on stools safely!”

This classroom project was brought to life by LOFT.New Year, New Materials!
Funded Aug 16, 2023This project had a noticeable impact on our ease into the new school year! Most recess "injuries" can be cured with an ice pack or a band aid. The broom and dust pan have softened the ear piercing sound of the multiple pencil sharpeners that are dropped through out the day. It has also helped the students feel more responsibility for how our classroom looks when they take part in cleaning it up. An unexpected, but most welcome, effect!
The puzzles have saved many indoor recesses. We use the magnetic racks to display our weekly read aloud books.
Thank you for making all of this possible.”

Funded Nov 30, 2022Thank you so much for your generosity in funding this project for my class. It is incredible what students will work to achieve with a little incentive (or bribery!).
As soon as I began unpacking our new rewards, students started telling each other what prize they were working to earn. They kept me updated with each new ticket they earned and how close they were to "buying" their prize.
Shockingly, the excitement around these rewards has not worn off, as most new things tend to do in the classroom. Weeks later, students are still excited when they earn enough tickets to "buy" their desired prize.”

Funded Jul 17, 2022Thank you so much for your donations to my classroom! This was a small project, but it has made a world of difference to my classroom this year. I have been able to use the Social Skills book, Empowering Cards, and Motivational Cards to design social emotional lessons to help us become better classmates. The oils help to create a calming environment which is crucial (especially this year!). The lamp is by far a class favorite. Not only does it provide light and let us leave off the harsh overhead lights, but it is a quick way to signal when students should be working independently or are able to talk with their partners.
Thank you again!”

I'm Done...Now What?
Funded Feb 12, 2022Thank you so much for your generosity. Having challenging, thought provoking work for my students to do when they complete their class work has been a game changer in my classroom. Early finishers are now able to extend their thinking; push their thought process.
Students were so excited when they saw the different books and activities that were delivered to us. They look forward to playing Wordical, seeing who can complete the most Sudoku or logic problems, and many have become great cursive writers!
Thank you again!”

Book Club Cravings
Funded Dec 15, 2021My students' faces lit up when they saw me unloading the books you so generously donated. They could not WAIT until I had unpacked the boxes and let me begin looking at the newest additions to our classroom. They immediately began choosing which one they wanted to read next. Within a few days we had our novel groups decided, reading time set aside, and were deep into discovering new characters/worlds. Thank you so much for creating this excitement to read. The best part is when they finished their books, they were eager to read the books they heard their classmates discussing!”

Behavior Bribery
Funded Sep 16, 2021Thank you again for your generosity in funding this project. My students were so excited when they saw the delivery (they knew we had new reward items coming!). Every week they look forward to me adding more stickers to our sticker wall, filling up the candy jars, and seeing what desk pets are for "sale".
I give out tickets to "buy" the rewards for upstanding behavior and when they pass reading lessons on an online leveled program we use. The students have started asking if they can get on the program when ever they have a free moment. So not only am I seeing an improvement in behavior to earn tickets, but they are also working diligently to become better readers!”

Funded Aug 13, 2021It always amazed at how excited my students get for a little bribery. Their eyes light up when they earn a piece of candy or a ticket for a chance at a bigger prize.
I love seeing even the quietest student(s) raise their hand to share their thoughts simply because they want a blue (always blue) Jolly Rancher. Some of them even show their kindness by saving the candy for a sibling! I am so grateful that I am able to see this side of them. It seems like such a small thing, but it really has made a big difference in my classroom.”

Funded May 8, 2021We absolutely love this table and chair set in our classroom. It makes me so happy to give students the option of sitting low to the ground in addition to their tables and other seating areas. It is so important for students to be comfortable when they are learning; and to not always have to sit in the same spot. Every week I allow my students to choose their seat for the week. Every student has had their turn at the table. I have noticed that a few keep going back to it! Giving them options like this has definitely changed the feel of my classroom.”

Funded Jan 27, 2021These items have been a game changer in my room. The headphones allow students who don't have headphones or earbuds to participate in an audio book club. The splitter helps them to all stay at the spot in the book which leads to some great conversations. We usually use the audiobook option when we begin a book so they can learn how to pronounce names and places. This helps immensely as they slowly start to read the book aloud more than they listen. Quite a few students have expressed how much they've enjoyed the combination of listening and reading to a novel.”
