Let's Bring the Past into the FUTURE!
Funded Dec 20, 2016The chrome book additions to our classroom have increased the learning and engagement amongst the students. We are truly grateful for the contribution. In United States History class we have been using the chrome books to look at propaganda and visual images from the multiple time periods we are studying. Additionally we have been using them for web browsing and research of current events. Lastly the chrome books have been essential with assisting our students in SAT prep. Our students have been using them in order to complete their Kahn Academy assessment tutorials that target their specific needs through differentiated test prep.
Our students appreciate that the chrome books are diverse and can provide opportunities for collaborative and personalized learning. They also find that they are much more effective with their writing skills when using the google docs program that provides them with grammar and spelling feedback. Overall these tools have assisted with improving engagement and interest with every student by giving them the opportunity for personalized instruction at their own pace. Your invaluable contribution has achieved in bringing the learning of the past into the innovative 21st century.”

S. O. S. S! Supply Our Social Sciences!
Funded Aug 25, 2016Dear Donors,
I am overwhelmed with gratitude for your generous donations towards supplies for my classroom. My students were very eager to collaborate with each other and develop visuals for class presentations once they saw the supplies they would be working with. Studies show that collaboration fostered with graphic organizers help support literacy with reading dense text. Your materials allowed me to put theory to practice in the classroom. My students each read about the cultures and events that contributed to the founding of America. In groups they created graphic organizers to visually display the information they learned while reading. Once completed they then shared out their findings to the rest of the class. This activity was paramount in setting the tone for the rest of the year in terms of expectations around collaboration and reading. I am forever grateful.
Moving forward I will be using more of the large easel paper for our mock legislative process activity. Students will become members of congress and attempt to draft and pass a bill. We will also be using the rulers and color pencils for scale and mapping activities once we look into the land ordinances that began the Civil War.
Your donation has contributed to the culture of learning, an appreciation for literacy, and a love of history in the classroom. This donation will foster collaboration which is a skill students will have for years to come. Thank You.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Luke
