Testing, Testing, 1,2,3...(Microphone Feedback)
Funded Mar 15, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donation. Our Snowball microphones have been really useful in class. We record the kids singing and playing, and have them listen to the recording to reflect on their performance. The classes are always amazed by their musical performances. Our classes are able to pick out the things they did well, the things that need improvement, and coming up with solutions on how to fix the problem. It is very exciting to see a class working together to improve on their overall performance.
Before we received our microphones, we used the built in microphone on the computer that made the recordings distorted, especially when instruments were being played. The microphone has also come in handy for recording students auditioning for all state honor choir. The recordings are very clear and is reflective of the true sound the students are creating.
We cannot say it enough. Thank you so much! Your donation has heightened their awareness in a way that would not have happened if we had not had this piece of technology. The leadership kids just did a recording of a song that was played at our assembly and the difference from last year is amazing. Thanks again!”

Wild About Orff!
Funded Jun 15, 2016Dear Donor,
I can't tell you enough how thankful the students and I are for your generous donation. The kids were so excited to open the boxes and see what was inside. Every student wants to play on the metallophones. That's the first instrument kids go to when they are called to go to an instrument. The ringing of the metal bars is so different from what they have been playing on in the past. Every grade level, from Kindergarten through fifth grade have been playing on the instruments in their songs. There were kids remembering songs from last year and telling me that this instrument would have been perfect for that song. We are able to play multiple parts and students can hear the different timbres which is exciting.
We have our first music program coming up in November and our brand new instruments will be utilized at our performance thanks to you. It definitely helps add a different sound to the ensemble and we are now performing songs the way they were intended to be played. I used to skip lessons because I didn't have a metallophone to use and now I don't have to anymore. Kids are getting more out of their music class because of your kind donation. Thanks again!”

Let's Play Recorders
Funded Sep 30, 2015Thank you so much for your donations. My students were so excited to play their soprano recorders. When they got the recorders in their hands, they started playing like crazy. Since then, they have learned to play different songs on the instrument with proper playing technique. The kids are working hard and practicing every class time to get better on their instrument. The students still find it hard to believe that caring people helped purchase these instruments.
Since then, we started using recorder karate in the classroom, which is a way for kids to learn different songs on the recorder and earn colored belts like you would in a karate class. The kids love it and students have been coming in the morning before school starts, lunch recess and the last recess to practice playing the recorder. The kids get excited when they pass their belt and move on to the next song. I have seen growth in rhythm reading and note naming on the treble clef staff since we started using recorders.
The classes will be continuing to work on their recorder skills throughout the school year. A lot of the kids are motivated to get their black belt and have been working hard to pass each colored belt. You made a bunch of kids happy and excited about learning music!”
