    Funded Sep 10, 2015

On behalf of my students and myself, I would like to thank you everyone for their generous donations. Through all your donations, you were able to provide a printer, ELMO, and various classroom supplies for my students. As a teacher who works in a Title I school, there is many hardships when it comes to students bringing in school supplies and having proper equipment to aid in my students learning.

My students really appreciated all of these classroom supplies. The printer helped provide numerous worksheets for my students to work on in class and for homework. It allowed for more time spent on learning than on copying problems down for homework. The ELMO was a big help for students to show their work. The ELMO allowed students to come up to show their work rather than have them spend time allowing their work on the board. The ELMO was also a big help in showing the students step-by-step how to dissect a math problem.

Due to many of my students being entitled to free lunch, many of my students have difficulty bringing in basic school supplies such as notebooks, pencils, or loose leaf on a daily basis. Without these basic supplies, learning becomes extremely difficult. Through your donations, notebooks and pencils were supplied to the students so they were able to take thorough notes. These supplies lasted my students for the whole school year and made a huge impact in bettering my students education.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Castro

My students come from a Title I South Bronx Middle School, which is a part of the Renewal Program. Most of the students receive free lunch and enter 6th grade with 1's and 2's on the Mathematics State Test. The students I serve are in both general education and special education classrooms. My students come from all different types of home life, such as foster homes, shelters, and broken home with feuding parents, which is shown in their school work. The students come to school with a lack of stability and structure, which results in students frequently coming to school late, absent, or without school supplies and complete school work.
