Student engagement is my primary goal for the 2018-2019 school year. I believe that student engagement can be achieved through academic support tools such as games and reading passages. When playing games or working in pairs you are able to increase academic conversation and discourse and I believe these activities can help.
My students will benefit from activities that provide mental stimulation and increase knowledge through content and fun. I am in need of activities such as center games and activities to help my children learn that provide opportunities for engagement. Moving from first grade to fourth grade is a big leap and not having adequate resources places me and my students at a disadvantage. I would love to have a reading and writing center with engaging activities that help the students learn and hold their attention. Having hands-on academic materials can make a huge impact on learning. Activites such as the "Content Area Comprehension Passages" are a great way to help the students prepare for the end of grade test. These games fit all learning modalities. Often times students can increase one's learning through doing. "Reading Informational Text Folder Game Library " is a great way for the students to work as pairs to read various book or passages where they are able to interact with informational text and comprehension questions. Many of my students would be considered as nontraditional learners and every opportunity to increase their achievement is well worth the attempt.
