As a former English teacher and an educator with ADHD and dyslexia the importance of quality literature at students interest level and reading level is so important. These graphic novels are a a interest level that will allow me to cultivate the love of reading in my students while also giving students the sense of accomplishment by finishing longer texts that they may not have been capable of in traditional literature. Also with over half the students being English language learners having access to texts that they can read successfully in english is also vital to their language acquisition needs. Furthermore, having a diverse library with characters and authors of difference races and backgrounds helps increase student cultural awareness and community.
